IMAP Email

My boss's email stopped working a few days back, I removed and re-added his email to his iphone mailbox. Which did not work, it defaulted to POP. I changed the incoming server to imap.comcast.net port 993. Then verified his ougoing settings smtp.comcast.net port 587. Once I did that he started recieving emails. However, the read status of the emails is not comminicating between the server and his device. If read on webmail it does not show on the phone and vice versa. We have marked all as read on both sides multiple times and it continues to not sync between them. What can I do or who can I contact to get this resolved?

I asked this same question today. I really hope they are working on a fix! Not to mention that after I re-added back the email account, there was a 16-hour span of missing email from the server. Gone.

Make sure the option in your settings for POP email under Advanced settings is set to Keep. If it initially tried to sync with POP on your device it may have started removing those emails from the server then when it was switched to IMAP it may have removed those on your phone as well trying to pull the identical information from the server as those emails were no longer there it may have removed them at that time.

@user_29b7e3 thank you. I am happy to report 2 things: it wasn't that but just a glitch on xfinity's side because all my emails from that period have been restored this morning. And also, you should know, I tried removing my email account AGAIN from my iPhone this morning and when I went to re-add it, it added it this time as IMAP. So I hope the same is true for you and your boss!

@user_29b7e3 Are you still noticing issues, or has it cleared up as @rhinogulius mentioned?
