I may have clicked Empty Inbox when trying to empty trash. How do I recover my Inbox emails?

Prior to 11 AM this morning I was cleaning up email and had 999 emails in Trash. I clicked on Empty Trash from the menu in Trash.  I logged into xfinity email 20 minutes later and saw that my Inbox had only 8 messages, all after 11 AM and my Trash folder had 999 emails. I clicked on the menu for the inbox and I saw an option I've never seen before - Empty Inbox. If I clicked this by mistake, how do I get all those emails that were in Inbox back?

Right-click on the Trash folder, then click on "Recover deleted items".  Are they in that folder?

No. They were never in trash and there are still 999 messages in trash (they didn't get deleted) and the deleted items that could be recovered were supposed to be deleted.  I am going to empty Trash now since the Inbox message aren't there.

Hello @user_48f404, thanks for reaching out for help with your email recovery. Currently, the only way to recover deleted emails is following these steps: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/recover-deleted-email. When using the email recovery option, you should be able to select what emails you want to recover, and pick what folder you are recovering them to.

  • You will have 30 days to recover deleted emails before they become permanently unavailable.
  • You can select multiple messages by clicking the first email in your list, holding Shift and then clicking the last email in your list.
