how to stop Xfinity e-mail account?

The holder of the account has died, is no longer a Comcast subscriber, and it's time to terminate their Xfinity e-mail account, which is just receiving spam now. There are MANY online requests for instructions on how to do it, with answers by allegedly knowledgeable people, and none of their methods work. Anyone out there want to try? Kind of stunning that it seems to be so hard to do.

We completely understand how frustrating it is to deal with ongoing spam, especially during such a difficult time.

The reason typical online instructions fail is that Xfinity does not allow standalone email deletion through standard account settings. However, our updated policy will handle this automatically if you choose to do nothing.

Xfinity email accounts must be signed in to at least once every 24 months to remain active. Because the account is no longer being accessed, it will automatically be flagged as inactive. Once flagged, a 90-day notification window begins. If no login occurs before that window expires, Xfinity will permanently close the email account and delete all data automatically. Anyone sending an email to the deleted account will receive an "account not found" message, stopping the spam entirely.
