how to get away from yahoo I hate yahoo
I totally despise yahoo email! I did want to migrate but it was mandatory and I had not choice. I get so many ads but to get rid of them yahoo wants you to spend money for a plan to be add free? Ridiculous, The emails are hard to read and find. too much spam.
Any suggestions on how to get away from yahoo email? I have so many people who have my email and afraid to change I would lose do many contacts. I have had comcast email for over 30 years and never had any problems until they forced this yahoo stuff on us. I heard once you are using yahoo you can not go back? There has to be something we can do to have a more user friendly email account without all this adds and junk emails.

It's not something you need worry about right now if you don't want to. For the time being, the transition to Yahoo is still voluntary on your part. At some point down the road Comcast will be ending their email service. But there is no published date for that yet. So it's not an emergency on your part. You are not even eligible for the move until you get the invitation email from Comcast, and even then you can opt not to make the change yet.

Yahoo mail is horrible. I don't like the format to start with. Comcast was much easier to use and navigate. Now my issue is that my entire address book did not transfer to Yahoo. I need those contacts to transfer and I would expect Yahoo to take care of it for me. How does this happen??? It's not my responsibility to get them to transfer to a platform that I never wanted or asked for in the first place!

You could export a copy of your Comcast contacts to your computer, then import them into Yahoo. First in the Comcast account, open the Inbox page and click on "Address Book" at the top of the page.
On the landing page in the left pane, click on the hamburger icon to the right of "Address book" and you will see the option to Export.
Once you have done that, go to the Yahoo account Inbox page, look to the right and you should see "Contacts" Click on that, then on "All", and to the right of that click on the 3 dot ellipse. In the drop-down menu you will see the option to Import your contacts.
I am assuming you are on a desktop or laptop computer. Instructions for an iPhone or an Android device will be a bit different.

I refuse to use Yahoo mail or its browser for any reason. I have had my Comcast email since 2010. I use Gmail as my main email because of my Android phone. I have evaluated and Yahoo mail is simply not an acceptable option. Also: If I already have Gmail, why would I even need Comcast or Yahoo email for anything?
So I haven't switched because there is only this one destination possible from Comcast: Yahoo. And Xfinity is the only halfway useful provider in my area for internet, so leaving is not an option. Its only area competitor, Frontier, has not yet installed fiber on my block. (They stopped two blocks from here four years ago and apparently aren't continuing. I keep checking.)
What's next? At this point, I intend to do absolutely nothing. How does Comcast handle people NOT migrating?

Very smart that you did your research up front. Yahoo is horrible. Seems like Comcast/xFinity would care AND TAKE ACTION to provide a satisfactory product for their customers. However, it's apparent they don't. They care nothing about keeping satisfied customers or providing quality services. Shame on them! I'm happy that our neighborhood has other, WAY BETTER companies that are putting Comcast to shame. And probably out of business.

If you do nothing, you will eventually lose your Comcast.net email address and account, and anything in it. There is no published end date yet, but at some point down the road you will need to make a decision to:
a) Accept the loss of your email
b) Make the transition to Yahoo (and keep the Comcast.net email address)
c) Go with some other email provider like Outlook.com, iCloud, Gmail, Mail.com or something else.
If it's just a case of not liking the Yahoo interface, you can use a desktop email client like Outlook, Thunderbird or emClient, etc.
