How to enable 2fa for 3rd party mail apps

I use the mail app on my iphone for my e-mail.

I have the xfinity authenticator app set up and it prompts me to approve sign-ins from the web site but it never prompts me when adding my e-mail account to my iphone or when opening the mail app.

Am I doing something wrong?  I don't want to have to open a web browser on my phone to check my mail as the only way to have my account protected.

@horsemenl Thank you for reaching out to the Digital Care Team. Once you have enrolled in Two-Step Verification, you will be asked to enter your verification code each time you sign in on your device (mobile phone or laptop, for example). Each time you enter your verification code, however, you will be given the option to not require the code for future sign-ins from that particular device when using the same browser or app. This means that you will only be asked for your unique verification code when you are signing in from a new device that you've never signed in from before, or if you are signing in from a device that you haven't used in a while. This is why you would not be prompted.

I had never signed in from my phone.

It was the first time setting up my e-mail there

@horsemenl You did state you had the Authenicator app on your device. After verifying your mobile phone number and email address, your device will be registered with Xfinity Authenticator.

I was able to add my comcast e-mail account to my iPad without it ever prompting me for 2fa.

@horsemenl Thank you for letting us know. Just to clarify, the My Account app and/or https://comca.st/3MwIUWz show two-step verification is turned on? Have you verified the phone number and email address? The application for email on your phone and Ipad do not log you out once you are done, so you will not be prompted to sign back in or receive a verification code. The only time you are prompted for the code is when you have to log in.
