How To Download A Few Years Worth Of eMails From Comcast Server ? Would be most grateful for help

Hi,

Would really appreciate help with this.

I've spent a lot of time trying to find answers, but just can't.

I want to download from the Comcast Server a years worth, or more, of my old eMails.

Set up as an IMAP, so I presume they are still on the Comcast Server.

Can't seem to download more than about 6 months worth, no matter what.

How, please do I download a few years worth of eMails ?

Very specific, explicit, instructions would be most appreciated.

Have that old age problem.

Much thanks,

Bob

@Robert11 Hello! We can definitely assist you in getting this done. Can you confirm that the few years of email that you are trying to download are currently in your Inbox or a folder that you have saved in your email client? Can you also clarify what third-party email service you are using 'Outlook, Apple email, etc'?

Hello Sir,

Much thanks for offer of help with this.

Really appreciated.  Will blame my ignorance on old age,

which I've found is a great excuse for most everything.

I have a W10 pc, and a new iMac desktop.

Using Comcast.

They both download the same eMails; works well on both computers.

I have no idea what you would like me to check with this:   "Can you confirm that the few years of email that you are trying to download are currently in

your Inbox or a folder that you have saved in your email client ?"

Where should I look, exactly for this info. ?

Both mail programs are the ones that came with the computers originally.

The MAC one has an icon on the bottom bar with an envelope pix.

The pc one just shows a bluish envelope on its bottom bar.

What I need to do is to download, and save on the MAC (or the pc) bout two years worth of older eMails.

As the Comcast account is set up as an IMAP, I am assuming

that Comcast keeps ALL of my old eMails "forever".

Is this true.

If I go to Comcast Connect, the best I can do is to pull up ones from Feb. of this year, and newer.

So, six months back is about the best I've done.

If you might give me very exact and explicit instructions on how

exactly get a few years of older eMails downloaded, would be

very appreciative.  Wife even more so !

Thanks again, Bob

Ok! Thank you for the additional information. Just to give you a better idea of how our email retention works, here is the schedule of that:

  • Spam (and any message in a folder within Spam) is stored for 7 days or 2,000 messages, whichever comes first.
  • Trash (and any message in a folder within Trash) is stored for 14 days or 5,000 messages, whichever comes first.
  • Messages deleted from Trash can be recovered for 30 days.
  • Messages in the remaining folders are kept indefinitely.

This does mean that if these were in personalized folders or in your Inbox they should remain indefinitely as the schedule above indicates.

Can you send us a Private Message so that we can take a closer look at your account? You can follow these steps to send us a PM.

Click "Sign In" if necessary

 • Click the "Peer to peer chat" icon (upper right corner of this page)

 • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

 • Type "Xfinity Support" in the to line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list

 • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

 • Press Enter to send your message

We'll be happy to continue assisting you there.

Hi,

I'm afraid too complicated for me.

Can't find any peer to peer icon.

Would it not just be possible to tell me here how to download my old eMails that are presumably on

your Server, and have them appear, somewhere, in a Folder in my eMail program.

It's "probably" very simple, but I just don't see how to.  (that old age thing again)

They, the very old eMails, are not presently in any of my eMail program Folders.

That's all I want to do; just to access my old ones, and transfer to my computer.

How, please ?  Please ?

My eMail at Comcast is:     [Edited: "Personal Information"]

Thanks,

Bob

@Robert11  My apologies for any confusion regarding the instructions to send a Direct Message! Here is another way to access:

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon or https://comca.st/3EqVMu7

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there

- As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list

- An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it

See https://comca.st/3KQF8q9 for an example.

To circle back to your primary request, it sounds like you are saying these 'very old emails' are not showing up in your Inbox even at the Xfinity Connect website correct? When was the last time you were able to see these emails from prior to six months ago in your inbox?

I no longer work for Comcast.

Hi,

Frankly, never looked.

It's only recently that I have a desire/need to see my very old ones.

Perhaps a year or two back.

Isn't there a "simple" way to access them (any and All) directly from the Comcast Server

and download them into my pc and/or mail program ?

Hate to be a pest with this, really, but have spent many hrs trying to figure out how.

Is there a simple way ?  Have tried via the Comcast site, but no luck.

Our Comcast is set up as IMAP, so I am assuming they are ALL still on their Server.

Again, thanks for your interest and help; very appreciated.
