How to avoid "Delivery Failure" when forwarding emails to phone-number@vtext.com
Starting in summer 2022, I repeatedly get the following error message when I tried to forward emails to my phone number as a SMS message. The email-forwarding action is triggered by a filter I set in my Gmail account.
I was following this post and used phone-number@vtext.com as the forwarding address. Yet, when I start to see this sort of Delivery Failure messages, the speed of the SMS-forwarding also went very slow - years ago, SMS may even beat my mail client on the phone. Now, SMS may or may not be delivered, a good number of hours after the message is received.

I did a Google search on number @ vtext.com and it sent me to a Verizon page which flashed briefly on how to send that way, but then went to a 404 page. It could be that Verizon is either phasing that out, or there's a delay going on somewhere, I don't know, but I thought I'd post what I found by looking that up.

Good afternoon,
Similarly to above, I did a quick google search for their text-to-email feature and appears there are quite a few restrictions using it. According to: https://www.verizon.com/support/text-messaging-faqs/ ,
-Your message must be 160 characters or less, including the subject line and recipient's email address.
-You can also include an attachment, like a picture or emoji. However, in the To field, enter the 10-digit mobile number of the recipient followed by @vzwpix.com (e.g., 9495551212@vzwpix.com), instead of @vtext.com.
now interesting thing to note is that in their guide from 2018, it states that the character limit is 140 characters. Overall, seems like the total limit of characters includes the subject line and the email address, which can greatly reduce what you can send over their service. You may want to reach out to Verizon for further clarification though and maybe even review the details within the email delivery notices you are getting to get more details/specifics on why your emails from Gmail to your Verizon phone are failing.
