Hi, @user_cd832a so sorry to hear that your emails are no longer viewable after 30 days. I know how important it is to have access to emails longer than 30 days. The Comcast email server has no deletion policy for the Inbox and the Sent box. This means that the Comcast email server will never delete an email from the inbox or sent box without manual user input. Just to clarify are the emails missing from the inbox folder or junk folder? Were you able to recover the emails from your trash folder?

Emails are missing from my inbox.  I leave them there to refer back to.  How can I keep them in my inbox until I Decide to delete them?

Are you using the webmail interface with your browser to view your Inbox?   If so, you should be able to just scroll down to see all of your emails.

Also, did you know you can create folders for emails like that and create filters to have those emails automatically put into those folders?

Scrolling down doesn't help. It just stops at the 30 day point. Has anyone been able to resolve this issue?

I am having this problem too. I can't find the missing emails anywhere. It seems like the inbox is just holding for a month and then they disappear and not into the trash.

I have another problem: I keep my emails up to 15 years. Business etc. I used to keep them on my iMac in a special folder "On my Mac". One day I deleted this "on my Mac" folder because I thought it was slowing down my computer. Now I cannot find these emails, even though they all were sent and received from my COMCAST account. It seems to me I should be able to find them from my COMCAST account located on the COMCAST XFINITY site, right? However, I don't see a search engine there capable of retrieving emails with , say, the year 2010 in them. So, how can I find on the COMCASt site these old emails I never deleted ?

Did you try running a date range search?   Like 01/01/2002-01/01/2005?

@Latoque

I am having the issue that so many are writing about. I'm not able to access emails older than 30 days. I tried a search as you suggested and it comes back, "No matching items found"! How is that possible.

This is infuriating.

I'm having the same problem. Accessing through several browsers, same result. Have reviewed all 'recovered deleted emails', nope that doesn't work either. I can only see 30 days. Please tell me the fix, as a co-worker is having the same problem.

Hello, @DeDe5. Are you accessing your emails through our website directly or through an app/3rd party client?

I no longer work for Comcast.

Through the website. Not through a client or 3rd party app. Have tried going through Safari, Chrome, FireFox, and Edge. At 30 days, it just stops. No ability to scroll. I have checked deleted emails, specific date ranges, basically everything I can find listed in this forum. Please help. Getting desperate.

@XfinityMiguel.  Dear Miguel, do you see how many users are having this exact problem? If we've taken the time to come to this forum and are seeking resolution, we must be the tip of the iceberg.

We can only see emails for 30 days. We are connected directly to Xfinity. Nothing is in junk folders or trash folders. Our older emails are just disappearing. Every suggestion that is on this page has been tried without anyone saying," oh, that's the fix! Eureka! Finally!" NO ONE has written that.

Can you folks at least acknowledge that you are aware of this problem and haven't resolved it yet?

Please share an actual fix on how to access old emails that have gone missing. I have not deleted any records, however, it shows “no match found”. My understanding was that all emails remain accessible until deleted, or, account was closed/abandoned. I access the account often, yet, historical messages are not in my mailbox or folders. Please help!

I too am am having the exact same issue.  I cannot find any of my emails that are over 30 days old.  I've tried multiple browsers, using my phone etc and still cannot see them.  I've read through all of the above comments and answers and they have not resolved the issue.  The emails were not deleted.  They were in my inbox and now I cannot access them.  When I scroll down it stops at 12/21/21.

I'm sorry to hear that these emails are not appearing as others have seen as well, and I appreciate you letting us know what steps you've already taken. I'd like to try creating a ticket for our backend team to look further into this and see if the emails are able to be recovered. Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address?

Hello, @olyandersons, I wanted to let you know I did receive your direct message. I will do all I can to help. In most cases when emails are gone its from circumstances outside our control such as mail clients or PC settings impacting your inbox. Once we locate your account we will see if we can take some steps to help.

I am also having problems with disappearing emails (NOT deleted)----I saved emails in various folders for future use, rather than keeping them in my inbox.

For some folders, they are gone but in other folders, they are there!  It says "nothing arrived yet" in those folders.

I am so sorry about the loss of emails! The best you can do now is to send us a DM using the instructions above so we can locate your account and then we can troubleshoot it from there for you.

Has anyone figured out the fix for this?  I too have lost emails older than 30 days.  I need to be able to access these older emails.  This is happening both in Outlook on the computer and emails on the phone.  I never used to have this issue until a couple months ago.  Help!

Here are a few steps you can take to make sure your settings are correct.

  1. In Outlook, right-click on the folder and select Properties.
  2. Select the AutoArchive tab and select Archive this folder using this settings.
  3. In Clean out items older than, enter 180 days, or whatever the desired amount of days/months/years may be.
  4. Select the Permanently delete old items option.

I do not see an AutoArchive tab when I click on Properties.

How can I change my settings so that I can see ALL of my past Inbox email that I have not deleted?

Currently I only see 30 days.

Thank you

Hello! Thanks for letting us know you have a similar concern. We are happy to help! Have you tried checking the setting in your email as XfinityPeterH has recommended? Some retention settings can remove older emails depending on how you have your preferences set up. Can you check these and confirm if the settings are correct, please?

My wife and I have been having the same issue. I use a Windows computer and she uses a MAC. We share a mail account and we typically access it through the Xfinity website. We do have out iPhones setup to access and view mail.
From the Xfinity website, via Mail, if you click Settings>Email Settings?Advanced Settings, I found that the option for 'POP Settings for Other Apps' was set to 'Delete'.

This options states "When using POP to access your Comcast email from third-party applications, you can choose what happens to messages once retrieved from the mail server. By default, we will leave the message in your Inbox. Changing this setting will allow your application to tell the server what to do."

I have no idea what all this really means. There is certainly nothing stated about deleting emails beyond 7 days.

For those of you experiencing this issue I might recommend starting here.

My bigger question for the Xfinity team is, if the option mentioned above was set to 'Delete' can my emails older than the last 7 days be retrieved?

Hi, @user_d6fab0, if they are in your deleted/trash folder you should be able to get them back, but if they are not, then they very well may be gone forever. Have you checked there yet?

There are several different issues in this thread, but I do want to address the overall email policies and some common causes for deviation from these policies. This applies if you are actively logging into your account.

    • Comcast automatically removes mail from trash and spam folders only.
    • Tied to the above we do not have a 30 day or any other automatic cleanup of inbox or subfolders/user-created folders
    • Typically these cleanups are associated with third-party clients such as outlook, apple clients, Thunderbird, etc.
    • If you have mail downloaded to "my computer", archived, etc through third-party clients, they often remove the email from Comcast and store it on your local computer. This means if you get a new computer you must move the messages from the old computer to the new one.
    • There is a restore option for mail that has been recently deleted (typically 30 days). This can be accessed from the menu of your trash folder within Webmail.

I too am having this problem. In trying to fix the problem myself, I see that when I right click the Inbox option, that one of the 4 options that then pops up is "Empty Inbox". I am right now reluctant to click this "Empty Inbox" option fearing that it might immediately delete all of my inbox e-mails. However, I'd be interested to know from Xfinity as to what I can expect when I click on to "Empty Inbox". More specifically, what I'm hoping to learn is that when I click onto "Empty Inbox" that there are several more new options that pop up and that one of those options is a setting which might currently show 30 days, but now I can change it to 365, 730, or whatever amount of days I want to.

All in all, what will happen when I click "Empty Inbox"? Please tell me that it won't do what it literally says and automatically delete my entire inbox without giving me a chance to say yes or no.

When you do click "empty inbox" it will ask you once more if you do want to continue with removing all emails from the inbox. You will need to click yes or no. If you click yes, all emails will be moved to the deleted folder.

While you did answer the second, less important question . . . . . the more important and as yet UNANSWERED question is why are e-mails in my in-box automatically disappearing after 30 days? This straightforward problem is the core issue for everyone in this thread of messages. What setting can be changes so that e-mails are not automatically disappearing after 30 days? Simple question that should not prompt a vague answer.

Are the emails being moved to your trash folder, or just completely gone?

completely gone. Trash folder only has a week's worth of deleted e-mails. Using search does not retrieve the older-than-30-day e-mails received either.
