How can I delete mass quantities of email? Currently takes too long to delete emails.

I've been with Comcast 17 years and by now my email address has been sold so many times, that my inbox is filling up faster than I can delete unwanted email. Problem with Comcast, is it won't let me delete more than ONE PAGE at a time! For example, how can I delete all emails from one sender even if it's 1,000 emails?

Comcast doesn't sell email addresses.  As for your deletion question, you can delete an entire folder full of emails by right-clicking on it and then clicking on "Delete all messsages".  If you want to delete by any other criterium, you would still need to do a search for your sender or whatever, and delete them 50 at a time which is the page default for Comcast email.

@Latoque

Hello, I have an IMAC and I was wondering can I get alerts to my emails because when they come in now that we do not have the app any longer I have no idea when they are coming in and it keeps me checking throughout the day for emails that I am constantly looking out for.

Are there any other email programs out there that are easier to manage (can delete more than 50 at a time), which I can forward all Comcast emails to automatically?

Using a desktop email client like Outlook, Thunderbird or Mac Mail would let you delete more at the same time.

  • Sort all the sender's emails together
  • Select the first email you want to delete
  • Scroll to the last email you want to delete
  • Hold the Shift key and select the last email
  • Click the Delete icon

(Tested in webmail with Firefox)

I emptied over 70,000 Comcast emails by clicking on "EMPTY FOLDER" and then on "EMPTY TRASH."  First I tried "MOVE ALL MESSAGES" (from Inbox) and then empty trash but I'm not sure it worked.  In any case, my iPhone no longer shows 72,000 unread messages!!  YAY.

I know this is frustrating because that is why I came on here but I know if you do the all message delete it will only delete 50 at a time but you can do that then while it is highlighted blue click on some more emails and it will realize you want to delete a few more. Now, it will only do this maybe once or twice but you will have to continue doing it that way until you get it use to noticing that you want more to be deleted. I hope this helps. By the way do you know how to get alerts that an email is in. I am looking for that. I need it to pop up or make a sound on my computer.
