hacked email

A hacker contacted people in my contact list saying I had been hurt fishing for people to try and swindle. The hacker also gained access to my account and added a false personal email to the account. I have removed the false email address and I have changed my password.

My email is still compromised. I can send emails but have received no emails for over ten days. My computer skills are limited. How can I get help from a Comcast tech to fix this problem and prevent a recurrence?

Thanks.

If an employee doesn't reply to your message here, Comcast Security Assurance should be able to help. You can reach them at the number found on https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/report-abuse. Note that this is NOT one of the general customer service numbers.

The first-line reps there are sometimes not very helpful, so you may need to be persistent and keep at them until you get a satisfactory answer.

Please be aware that there are 2 kinds of responses in this Forum: Replies and Comments. When you Comment on a post by scrolling down to "Comment on this post here...", I am notified of your response. But if you select Reply, I am NOT notified and may not be aware of your response.

Hello, @vwm! Thank you for bringing your email security concerns to the Xfinity Community Forum for assistance. You've definitely come to the right place! As mentioned by our Gold Problem Solver, BruceW, the Customer Security Assurance (CSA) team is an excellent resource for issues such as these. Have you been able to reach them?

Check your Filter Rules (Email Settings). Look for a rule that you did not create, like "...". I had the same situation and discovered that the hacker added a rule to automatically forward emails to the hacker, which could then be used to send replies to others. They may have also copied your contact list.
