For your own security

I was asked to change my password last night. I was suspicious and called Xfintiy. Fortunately a tech answered and explained that they were asking users to change passwords. Okay, I did and adjusted all my password on all my devices. Then I started to Google trying to find out about hacks. So far I’ve found that about this time last year many users from Direct TV, AT& T, Xfinity and couple others were having their accounts hacked.  At that point that hacked information is put on sale on the Dark Web to buyers for maybe a thousand an account. Then the dark hackers take over the accounts and then try to access bank information, etc. It’s less of an inconvenience to change a password than deal with stolen accounts. My email account was hacked about three years. So was my Instagram account. I discovered my Instagram hack being done overnight so I stayed up and saw it get changed, received the change email, changed it back and that went on and on. I spoke to someone who worked in Cybersecurity and learned a lot. You all must know by know school districts, hospitals and many others are hacked then held for ransom. The goal for individuals is to get access to their banks, ets. After my hack was fixed I got identity theft protection paid for yearly and it has helped me by alerting me if my SS number, address, emails, etc appeared on the dark web so that I could take action. Please protect yourself, no one else can do it but you.  I work for no identity theft protection company. I’m just a person reading all the post of angry and upset users.
