Filters seem to not work

Hi

I keep getting spam emails from outlook.com and hotmail.com addresses. I went to Email settings >Mail Filter Rules >Add New rule. Without the quotes, I have "@outlook.com" in the Rule name field, and in the Sender from Contains under conditions, I have "@outlook.com". I have selected Reject With Reason, and simply have put "no email address". It's not working, as I continue to get emails from these addresses. Why? Thank you.

riffwraith2 Thank you so much for your post for help with the SPAM filters in your email. I see one of our Experts @Again provided some advised did you get a chance to see if that helped? You can also make sure to mark the messages as spam as well using these steps here: Mark Emails as Spam.

"Reject With Reason" doesn't block the sender or delete the email, it just blocks matching emails and sends a "Reject" email containing the message you wrote. Spammers and scammers are not likely to be deterred by it.

@riffwraith2 As @BruceW has mentioned, the "reject with reason" rule will not stop the email from appearing in your inbox. You will want to update the rule to "discard" or even "redirect to" another folder if you want to avoid seeing those specific emails.

That doesn't make sense. Reject, means to reject, no?

The spam emails started last week and are dozens a day. Im about ready to delete this

email account and go to Gmail and Duck. It's getting ridiculous.

Just did a test from my personal domain. The comment of  ' the "reject with reason" rule will not stop the email from appearing in your inbox ', is false. It does, as I suspected, reject the email and send it back to the sender. Have a look:

Ok, but above you said "... It's not working ...". What changed?

I said it's not working, b/c it's really not working for outlook and hotmail addresses. Those still get through. Plus, I hadn't done a test until now.

My understanding is that filters are only applied to messages delivered to the Inbox, and as they are being delivered. I don't think they'll work on messages Comcast/Xfinity delivers to the Spam folder.

Well, the filters are not applied to the inbox. Besides, rejected means REJECTED. Meaning the email is supposed to be rejected - not accepted. If it winds up in the spam folder, that means it has been accepted. There is something wrong with the Xfinity mail server's config.
