ESMTP server temporarily not available -- Follow Up

On Dec 12, 2024 I posted regarding this error when I try to send e-mail out of Thunderbird using a Windows 11 computer.  I thought I had the problem fixed, but it returned today (01/02/2025).

I found that if the McAfee VPN is turned on, you MIGHT get this error.  Turn off the McAfee VPN and it instantly goes away.  This is a better solution than deleting your Thunderbird installation.  I had previously thought that it was related to a different installation I had of Microsoft Outlook not having an updated password, but that was not the case.

From what I can see, it appears that if you McAfee VPN turned on, the Xfinity Server thinks you are logging in from different locations.  When some magic number of these log ins has occurred, you then get the ESMTP error due to "excessive failed attempts."

VPN's have lots of legitimate uses, but they are also a magnet for spammers and scammers whose activities "poison" the VPN's IPs. Sending email using a VPN is likely to always be iffy.
