ESMTP server not available

A friend gets an error message a couple of times a week when he sends emails to me. The complete message is:

<[Edited: "Personal Information"]>:
554: resimta-c2p-559906.sys.comcast.netresimta-c2p-559906.sys.comcast.net ESMTP server not available

Most of his emails go through OK, but occasionally the error occurs.

Any idea what causes Comcast’s server to be “unavailable”?

@user_5bfwkz I can definitely understand the frustration. If it is just the one friend sending you emails, they would need to troubleshoot their email specially as there are many factors that could play into sending the emails through. How often does this occur?

This occurs about once in every 10 or so emails. He has no trouble sending emails to non-Comcast addresses, and the re-send always seems to go through.
The error message indicates that’s it’s a COMCAST SERVER error (“not available”), so I really don’t think it’s on the sender’s end.

@user_5bfwkz Thank you for letting us know more of the specifics. I'm not showing any issues currently reported for our email service. About how long has this issue been happening? Have you heard from anyone else that they receive this error as well or are there times that you are expecting an email, and it does not arrive?

I am happy to help open an investigation on this as well to help make sure we don't have an issue. Please send us a direct message with your name, service address and email address.
