Emails on iPhone are not working

I use an iPhone (16 Pro; iOS 18.5) and continually get error messages for Comcast. First I was continually prompted to enter my password (done), and would sporadically get emails after a few prompts/responses. But now I haven't received emails for weeks and get the message:  "Cannot get mail; The mail server "imap.comcast.net" is not responding. Verify that you have entered the correct account info in Mail settings. Server code "AUTHENTICATIONFAILED", server message "Authentication failed". "

I've done all the actions suggested in other threads without resolution. Help and thank you!

Hello user_etx2qb thank you so much for taking the time to reach us here via our Xfinity Forums! What email service are you using on your iPhone to receive Xfinity emails?  Are you able to login via the Xfinity webiste, and see the missing messages?

@XfinityAlfonso I am using the default iOS/Apple "Mail" app. When I log into the laptop, I see the messages that are not coming through to my phone. As of today...everything seems synched up, but that has not been the case lately, and each episode lasts longer than the previous one.

I see, thank you for letting mew know! So the "sync" is now working as intended on the Apple devices. Is that accurate?

I can’t wait for Xfinity mail to transition to yahoo mail. This has been a problem for a long time. I now just check my mail on the web.

Hello Xfinity - I also have been experiencing this issue as described above in the OP (30 July 2025) on my iPhone 12. Is there any resolution available? (Deleting and re-adding the account did not work.)

My wife and I have the same issue and use the default mail/apple service. We have had Comcast emails for over 20 years and never a problem until this year. Deleting and adding the accounts back does not work, it states Comcast is currently not available. Yes, I can check email from a browser, but it’s inconvenient and slow.

Has anyone found a solution for this. I’ve been having intermittent issues of incorrect Comcast imap password or server not available, meet I can sign in directly in the xfinity app using the same (correct) password

Same problem intermittently as above-tried all the options to correct without resolution. I usually get the message incorrect imap password, but recently received a message the server not available. I tried deleting and readding-now I have no Comcast emails on my iPhone mail app. I can sign in directly with the xfinity app using the same (correct) user name and password. This most recent episode started several days ago-ha not been resolved yet.

Thank you for reaching back out here, that is certainly an issue we can look into. Can you send me a direct message with the full name and complete address for your service?

To send a direct message [private message]:

Click the "Direct Message" icon or  https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there.

   - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.

   - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

   Press Enter to send it

Hello user_glegmn! I definitely understand how crucial it is to get your emails the way you need them, so I want to help make sure everything lines up for you the way it should 👍 Have you by chance already completed your Comcast email to Yahoo migration

Same issues.   Neither comcast or apple support can resolve this intermittent failure.  Yet another reason to leave comcast….

their response is to create a yahoo account. Which is NOT customer friendly,I am sure many of us have had their emails for many years and have so much associated with it.

@user_cfftu0 Our team is here to help. Can you provide us with more information on what's going on, and what steps you've taken?

Did you happen to receive an invite message to upgrade to Yahoo in your inbox?

I'm having the same problem with my iPhone 13 and iPad Air.  Emails will not load.

I get an initial error message the reads "Password Incorrect - Enter the password for the IMAP account <myemail>@comcast.net"

The second error message I'm getting reads "Cannot Get Mail - This mail server "imap.comcast.net" is not responding.  Verify that you have entered the correct account info in Mail settings.  Server code "ALERT", server message "Temporarily backlisted IP Address - try again later"

I've reentered my password.  I've disconnected from the Wi-Fi as well as shutting off the VPN.  The phone has been restarted several times.  Nothing is working.

I am able to access email via the web browser, so I know I am using the correct password.

I'm hoping to get some assistance about this issue.  And preferably some assistance that does NOT refer to the upcoming transition to Yahoo.

Thanks

user_00f6v1 Is this error happening on different devices besides those? Do you have the latest updates?

After reviewing all the replies in this thread, it's apparent that Xfinity Comcast has no help to provide.  The responses are typically to check your own systems and also providing useless links.  I've checked and rechecked everything possible and Apple Mail receives but cannot send email from either one of my accounts.  Other non-Comcast accounts work just fine.

I'm running a MacBook Air with MAC OS Sonoma 14.8.3 (most current version) with Apple Mail 16 (most current version).  The outgoing server setting is using TSL 1.2 and 1.3 (both fully compatible with Xfinity web mail).  Also, I have checked and unchecked the Third Party Security settings in Xfinity email settings and Apple Mail immediately recognizes when the setting is turned off AND immediately recognizes when it is turned back on.

I'm having the exact same issues with iPhone email as everyone else has mentioned and nothing works to fix Comcast email on the iPhone either.

It does not matter how many times accounts are deleted and added; they no longer work except to receive email on the computer and no connection whatsoever on the iPhone.

I believe all this is because of the Comcast transition to Yahoo.  Comcast is spreading this out over an entire year with no idea when our email will be authorized to complete the transfer.  In the meantime we are all left to flounder like a flag in the wind and unable to use our email in the same manner as some of us have for up to 20-years or more.

I've also had Comcast email address for more than 20-years, so why they can't make this transition move smoothly is irresponsible at best.
