Emails Not Deleting

When I go in and try to delete emails, I get the following messages:  "An Unknown Error Has Occured" comes up at the top of the screen and "Server Not Available" comes up at the bottom of the screen.  The emails don't delete.  I tried accessing my email on a desktop at another house and it did the same thing.  Anybody got any ideas?
