Emails aren't sent or received - emails moved to outbox - open emails to see what's wrong

Since 2:07 am today, my Comcast emails aren't being sent or received on my android Galaxy S series. I tried to send a test message to my own email address. It gets moved to my outbox with the message: "Couldn't send." I select the email that didn't send and it says: "Couldn't authenticate...the password or authentication method may be incorrect. Check your outgoing server settings, then try again." I then selected: "Settings" and it brings up the "Server settings" screen. I don't know what the fields should be, but haven't changed anything to my phone or settings or done a phone update. I did a soft and hard restart (pushed the down volume and power button together until restarted), but still not working. I can send and receive emails if I go directly to Comcast's email site. Help.

Comcast told me the Samsung is having a problem with their email app and to call them. The person I spoke to at Comcast asked what type of phone I have then told me it was a Samsung issue.

At 8:30 this morning I uninstalled, then reinstall the Samsung email app yet again on my Galaxy S23. So far it seems to be working. Hopefully necessary repairs were made.

On my S22, I did the same thing by uninstalling the Samsung Email app and reinstalling from the Google Store.  Set up my email account and seems to be working for now.  Keeping fingers crossed that problem is resolved.

Same issue here too, Galaxy S22U.  Was about to remove, cycle & reinstall then saw how often that wasn't the solution either!  This is ridiculous.

I've had the same problem since 11/7. I have cleared my cache and data, did not help. Removed my comcast account from the app and then reinstalled it, it worked for about an hour then stopped again. I removed the entire Samsung email app from my phone and reinstalled it and added the comcast account to it, worked for about an hour and then stopped. My wife and son use the Samsung email app on the same model phone as mine (A42 5G), but with Yahoo email accounts and they have no problems at all. Definitely appears to be a comcast issue.

Just adding to the HUNDREDS of replies...same issue. Changed nothing and my last sync was 11/7. I can check my email fine on their website. Reinstalled the email app and it worked once... same issue.

I had same problem since 11/7...very frustrating. Thankfully I followed bkcom's advice and it has worked so far.

Go to email app under settings.

Remove comcast email address....then add same address back. Even though it says you will lose all account information, that does not happen. After I entered password, all information came back.  Thanks bjcom!! You should work for Comcast : )

This works from my phone.  Not pretty but better than nothing until they fix the Samsung/Xfinity email failure.  I run it from a Chrome browser on my Samsung phone.

Mine started on my Samsung Galaxy S21 on 11/7/2023 and does not work after going through all the processes suggested to fix this issue.  So frustrating to have to login to Comcast email now to view or send messages.

@user_0woiwf Might want to keep it simple and just try the following:

Delete the app cache

Then delete the email account on the app.

Re-add the email account

Let me know..

Is this specifically an S22 or Samsung thing, or a smartphone thing -- the email app on our iPad is fine, for example, and of course webmail is fine.  Anyone check their Kindle Fire, or other mobile Comcast email app?  Since it's a problem on both wifi and data, can we assume it's not a verizon issue?

@lizziewriter This is the Samsung email app and comcast issue.

Anyone using a non Samsung email app appears to be fine.

When is Comcast going to fix this issue instead of their customers having to search for solutions online? I am seriously thinking of cancelling my Comcast email service. This shouldn't be happening.

I had to call them and tech support helped me to uninstall then reinstall and it worked. He said there was a major problem but it has been corrected.

Uninstall Samsung email app. Reinstall. Add Comcast email account, sign in. Then add other email accounts,  e.g., Gmail...

It's got to be the Samsung App. I'm receiving and sending Comcast.net emails without any interruption on Mac laptop and iPad.  It's only my Samsung mobile app that stopped working at 2:26AM November 7th. Cited "Can't authenticate.  Check server settings."  Infuriating!

@user_2y89lv it's comcast's issue. Their email is not communicating with 3rd party apps. Someone from Samsung helped me fix my phone. But my MacBook mail wasn't working either. I finally got a Comcast agent with a brain who resolved the issue.

@XfinityAngie I am glad someone from Comcast/Xfinity is finally on the thread. Would be great if Comcast would get the stories straight. Some folks are being told that the issue has been resolved and you state that is still being worked on. As has been posted on this board several times, there seems to be a solution that works for the majority of the folks, That appears to be removing the comcast account and then re-adding it back into the Samsung email app.
Some folks have removed the app and re-installed it, but not all that effort is needed.
Clearing cache/data has also been mentioned as additional steps..

Stopped syncing on November 6th. Here's what I did and it worked (for now.) Uninstalled and reinstalled samsung email app. Reregistered my comcast account with the app. Immediately worked. Now, for how long. Good luck.

how are you uninstalling the samsung email app?  it wont let me do it from the play store, or the settings, and the app dosent have a uninstall button for it.  looks like it is a system app that built into the phone os.
