email - temporarily blacklisted IP address - try again later - again

I have been using comcast.net since 2006 - twice now in the past 6 days I am getting the message "temporarily blacklisted IP address - try again later" when attempting to login via SMTP or IMAP.It prevented me from sending or receiving e-mail for 2 days, then it started working again. Now today AGAIN I am "temporarily blacklisted".

I am using windows 10, thunderbird client, starlink internet. The public ip address is [Edited: Personal Information] Additionally this also fails when using an iPhone 12 with the Apple mail client, and it fails on a MacBook using the Thunderbird client.

Is there any way to get this fixed??

Hi ragtowne, thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to create a post. We are happy to help you with getting this resolved, can you tell me if you've tried logging out of the Thunderbird client and then re-adding the account back? This should correct the error, there are times when your password just won't process with the server, so removing the account and adding it back will essential create a new hand shake with the mail client and the Thunderbird client.

@XfinityAmir I have powered everything down (exited Thunderbird, shutdown Windows 10 and powered down the PC, and disconnected power from the Startlink router), waited 30 minutes, and powered everything back up. The same public IP address was assigned to the Starlink router [Edited: Personal Information] and the same inability to send or receive e-mail.

I am also unable to read e-mail using my iPhone 12 using the built in mail application.

If I establish a VPN connection I get a different public IP address [Edited: Personal Information] then I am able to read email using an IMAP connection to comcast.net without making any other changes on both my Windows 10 PC using Thunderbird and my iPhone 12 using the built in mail application.

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

@ragtowne, if you bypass the Thunderbird client and try to access your mail using our website https://comca.st/3wA1rKr are you able to send/receive mail there? In your MAC mail on the IPhone12 have you tried removing the account and then adding it back to the mail client?

I no longer work for Comcast.

Yes accessing https://comca.st/3wA1rKr using the Firefox browser on Windows 10 PC works.

So I did as you suggested on my iPhone 12:

- removed [Edited: "Personal Information"]

- attempted to add it back in with the description " [Edited: "Personal Information"]".

It failed --- with the following error message:

[Edited: "Personal Information"] is currently unavailable.

I tried it twice and it gave the same error message back.

I started up a VPN session (using PureVPN) on my iPhone 12 and with the exact same settings it worked.

The same is true for my Windows 10 system - if I start up a VPN session (using PureVPN) Thunderbird is able to access e-mail via the IMAP protocol.

@ragtowne thank you for being so detailed on your response. I'd like to look into this a bit on my end of things. For further assistance could you please send me a private message with your full name and street address?

To send a "Peer to peer" ("Private") message:
Click "Sign In" if necessary
• Click the "Peer to peer chat" icon
• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
• Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
• Press Enter to send it

I no longer work for Comcast.

@XfinityAmir: The problem is not Thunderbird. The problem is that Comcast's mail servers don't seem to like the poster's Starlink IP address when they try to use an email client instead of webmail.
