Email Spam

In the past 3 weeks I have been receiving endless amounts of ridiculous spam. Came out of no where. Never had this issue before and no matter how many I report for spam they continue to come back and continuously get more and more spam. Can you fix your email system so that spam actually gets blocked?

Are they going to your Inbox or to the Spam folder?

The spam I receive has become intolerable.  Some of the messages are duplicates and I receive four or five of the same unwanted messages in my inbox.  Why can't Comcast do more to help with this problem.  It takes me 10 to 15 minutes every day to remove these.  I have been using Comcast email for many years and hate to change but this is a real problem.

Hello @Anon1392236. I see it has been a few days since you posted and I wanted to check in to see if you were able to find a solution for managing the spam coming into your email or if you are still in need of some assistance? We would love to help! :)

I just recently had the same thing happen over the past week.  Piles upon piles of emails are landing in my multiple Comcast inboxes that are spam.  They're all similarly formatted, one line of text that's a hyperlink. Comcast needs to do a better job of identifying this.  I'm happy to provide the raw source to any Comcast person that wants examples of these specific emails.

I just found this other forum post: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/mark-email-as-spam-xfinity-connect which says:

Forward the spam message as an attachment to [Edited: "Personal Information"].

I'll start doing that with a hope that it'll make a difference.

I am having the same problems as the countless emails have reported - a massive amount of SPAM coming every day.  From obvious spam sources, with a few, not too many, legitimate emails also ending up in spam.  Whatever spam filters Comcast was/is using are not doing their job and Comcast's responses - either through a bot or 'expert' user volunteers - is laughable at best.  We're all paying way too much for this to be happening.

Hope someone is viewing these complaints and doing something about it. But based on the continuing volume of complaints, that doesn't appear to be happening. Looks like I'll have to change my email and use gmail or something else instead.  This is INTOLERABLE!!

@XfinityCSAEmail is there anything more that can be done here?  What I've seen is a distinct and dramatic increase in the number of spam messages landing in my Inbox.  All the messages are nearly identically formatted messages, and most have bogus Reply-To values.  I have to imagine that these messages should be relatively easy to identify as spam...

A related question:  when forwarding the messages as attachments to [Edited: "Personal Information"], is it best to do it individually, or should I select all of the messages and forward them as multiple attachments in a single email?

FWIW, the barrage of spam in all my @Comcast.net emails seems to have been stopped sometime yesterday.  I had a small number trickle through overnight and this morning, but nothing like it was over the past week.  So hopefully this has been resolved.

That is so great to hear. The CSA team definitely can check the backend processes to see why you were receiving so many spam emails. The process can take a few days to complete, but if you say it's now normalized, that is great. Do you have any further questions regarding your services?

@XfinityMarcella Sadly, it looks like the spammers just took the day off.  :-(  This morning it was all back.  So yes, please, I'd LOVE for somebody to look at the situation and see why there are suddenly so many spam messages landing in my mailboxes.  I have multiple user accounts, and almost all of them are in the same situation getting multiple spam messages per hour, 24/7.

Absolutely; I completely hear you! I have attached our Customer Security Assurance team's phone number below, and those folks will be more than happy to investigate this further! Are you able to give them a phone call?

@XfinityTyler  I did call the CSA team, and it did not go well. The agent that I talked to repeatedly tried to explain how spam emails can be sent by anybody, and that "the best recommendation" they can make is to simply mark the emails as spam in my client and "eventually they will go away."

I tried to explain that this forum discussion had told me to call in to the CSA team and that somebody would be happy to investigate further.  The rep I spoke with (a) certainly wasn't happy, and (b) didn't offer to investigate any further.

I'll try again to see if I can get a better rep, but I'm not optimistic.  Any other suggestions for how to get any traction on this?

I am also experiencing a lot of spam emails, which started in about 3 - 4 weeks ago.  I seldom if ever had spam before this.  These are common spam emails re "norton", "mcafee" etc.  I've set new rules to filter these keywords but the filters do not catch them.  Today I received one, for example, about a norton renewal from donot.reply_< [Edited: "Personal Information"]> with the title.... How can Xfinity NOT KNOW this is spam?

Today I checked my email inbox and had 60 emails, only 2 were valid (from comcast by the way)  so 58 were all SPAM with many duplications.  I do not have this issue with other emails systems that I use.  The lack of spam control of emails coming in is unreal.  Not sure what has changed but it was not like this awhile ago.

Same thing here. Intolerable spam 50+ per day recently. And the fact that the 'McAfee has expired call this number' phishing attempt continues to always make it in for months is ridiculous.

I'm having the same problem with tons of spam emails when only a few weeks ago I wasn't getting but one or two spam emails every so many days.  This looks more like a system breakdown in Xfinity's filtering of emails rather than something I did or did not do.  Anyone know if this is fixable at all!?

Hello @FirecrackerGirl, have you attempted setting up filters to control the spam emails? You can see how to get that done by going to the following link:  https://comca.st/3njjIbe. Please le us know if that helps.

I have done all of the above a long time ago and didn't get that much spam (maybe two every so many days).  But something has changed in the last month as I've been getting ten or more spam messages in the spam folder every day when I open the email in the morning and often later in the day.  It is not something I have or haven't done.  I believe there is something that has happened on the Xfinity side of the email which is causing this to occur now.

@FirecrackerGirl,

Thank you for taking the time to review the steps in the link we shared.

To clarify, are the spam emails going directly in your spam folder?

I had the same problem but NOW COMCAST IS FILTERING LEGIT EMAIL!!! I spent endless time with lackluster support people who don't help at all. I was getting 70 plus junk emails that started several weeks ago. Now I'm not getting as many but legitimate email is being blocked. For example, order updates and order confirmation from places like Home Depot and esalerugs.com do not come through at all-- not in my inbox and not in junk mail. It is unreal. The tech support people are worthless. They say "We don't see anything being blocked. Why don't you call the companies directly and see why you aren't getting email!!!" How am I supposed to know what I'm not receiving anyhow???  I didn't receive a very important email with a quote from our local heating/ac people. I asked them to resend it and it still didn't come but when sent to my yahoo email I did get it. Comcast is doing nothing right regarding email. My ticket number is IH228125879.
