Hi @user_paohe3, thank you for posting to our Xfinity Forum Community! We can definitely help clarify what you’re seeing. What’s happening is expected behavior when an email is moved or copied to a folder instead of being fully moved:
- When an email is copied to a folder, it remains linked to the original message in your Inbox.
- Because of that link, deleting the message from the Inbox also deletes the copy in the folder.
How to keep the email in the folder but remove it from the Inbox
You’ll want to move the message instead of copying it:
- Use Move to Folder (or drag and drop the message) so it leaves the Inbox entirely and lives only in the destination folder.
- Once it’s fully moved, deleting it from the Inbox will no longer affect the copy in the folder, because there won’t be one there anymore.
Managing deletion behavior
You can also review and adjust your email deletion settings to better match how you organize messages. These settings control how emails behave across folders when they’re deleted or managed.
