Email filter rules disappeared recently. How to get them back?

My Xfinity email filter rules disappeared recently, towards end of October 2022.

I need to make some changes to those email filter rules.

How do I get them back?

@XfinityValerie

Hello Valerie,

Sorry for the delay responding to your questions about my "missing email filters" issue.

So, over the past few years that I have been using Comcast/Xfinity Email, I have created about 20 email filters.

These filters would check various items like Sender/From, Subject Contains/Contains Not, et cetera, and when the various conditions were met, the filters would perform actions like Keep and Redirect To my Gmail account.

In early November 2022, I wanted to make some changes to some filters, but when I went into Email Settings, all of the filters had disappeared.

Since I did not know if these old filters were no longer working, I created some new filters.

However, I am still getting some Redirected emails in my Gmail account, which suggests that the old filters are still "active" even though I cannot see them in Email Settings.

So that is my situation, and I am hoping there is some way to make the old filters visible in Email Settings so that I can make some changes to them.

Thank you in advance for your help,

Thank you for sharing those details @user_b511ce. We'd be happy to see if there is any troubleshooting that we can do to restore those filters. I'll need to gather your account details, and ask a few question before we can begin. Please send a direct message with your name and service address to "Xfinity Support" by clicking on the "Direct Messaging" chat icon in the top right corner of the page, then click on the pen and pad icon and enter "Xfinity Support" in the "To" section of the chat.

I no longer work for Comcast.

Hello XfinityChe,

I am viewing these forum messages on my laptop computer at url  https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/email/   using Microsoft Edge browser, and I do not see "Direct Messaging" chat icon in top right corner of the page, so I am not sure how to send Direct Message with account details to "Xfinity Support".  What should I do?

Thank you in advance for your help,

Hello XfinityChe,

My apologies, I just found the "Direct Messaging" chat icon in top right corner of the page. I was looking at it but did not see the pop up description. I will follow your instructions to send account details.

Thank you for your help,

@user_b511ce It sounds like you may need to sign in. Do you see a link to do so to the right of the Xfinity banner on at the top of the page?

Did you ever get your missing filter rules back ?

Up until a few days ago, mine worked fine, but then I started noticing emails going into my inbox which I thought should go directly to the folder I had created the filter for them.

These are filters that had been working for months / years.  I probably had 25-35 filters.

NOW, I HAVE NONE.

Hello user_fcce50,

Sorry for the delay responding to your question.

No, I was not able to get missing email filter rules back.

I was able to eventually speak with Xfinity technical support and they said it was not possible for them to recover the missing email filter rules.

So, I have recreated filter rules from memory, and I am saving screen shots of the rules in case they "disappear" again :-)

I have the same problem as user_fcce50:

I had about 200 filters set up, mostly to catch all the spam email that Comcast's spam filters miss.  As of two days ago, there were no filters.  Now I'm getting a lot of spam email again and have to set up filters again.

1. What happened to all my email filters and can I get them back?

2. Why can't Comcast do a better job of filtering spam?  Most of it is pretty obviously fake and getting rid if it could be automated better than whatever they do now.

Thanks.

On Windows11, I did "Settings > Accessibility > Text Size > 150%" and refreshed my web browser.  The Mail Filter Rules option came back.
