Email Account Error - Temporarily Blacklisted IP address
I'm having intermittent email account errors when accessing my Xfinity account from my second home. I'm using Apple Mail on a Macbook air using wifi connected to the interet. I have full access to the internet, but when my Mail app attempts to connect to my Comcast mail server, I get the message: Online Status - Temporarily blacklisted IP address - try again later. Some emails will come through periodically, but in general there is no email access through the wifi router. I am able to access email on the Macbook when I use a cellular connection via my phones hotspot function.
Any ideas how to keep my wifi IP address from being blacklisted by Comcast?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, I am experiencing the error on both my Macbook & iPhone which says "Temporarily blacklisted IP Address - try again later". Can you please let me know how to fix this so I can continue receiving emails on my devices?

I turned off my VPN and the "blacklisted" message went away. Then I turned the VPN on, and everything worked again. Comcast can be a little weird about VPNs.

I’m having a similar issue after changing my Comcast password where my IP address appears to be blocked from receiving emails. If I switch to cellular or a different network, it works. Has anyone been able to get their IP unblocked? I’ve had no luck getting it resolved over the phone.

I learned the hard way with lots of frustration over three days that the word "Temporary" means just that! Just ignore this message and it will go away after about two to three days! It happened to me after I updated my Mac Big Sur operating system on my iMac. At first the message triangle in my Apple mail account was yellow and I could not get any of my Comcast email. But within a day the yellow triangle changed to gray and my mail came in normally. Another day went by and the triangle disappeared! Just ignore it for your peace of mind! The Xfinity support team on two different calls that sounded like they were somewhere in Asia, had no idea what I was talking about! Neither did the Xfinity Customer Service text thing know about what I was talking about. I got ridiculous, fanciful and inventive ideas from them, I guess so they thought they sounded knowledgable about this Blacklisted IP Address thing. Don't bother calling them! The most rich and stupid suggestion from a "Knowledgeable" Xfinity man was, "Lady, you need to take your iMac and two iPads to an Apple store so they can fix the settings on your machines! He told me this three times and at that point, I HUNG UP ON HIM KNOWING HE HAD NO IDEA WHAT HE WAS TALKING ABOUT!!! By that night my "Problem" had solved itself without any changes to anything on my end. I was also told something must be wrong with my Spectrum modem/router and I needed to complain to spectrum! What the Xfinity "Techs" could not grasp was that except for my little update, all of my devices were working fine for the past 8 years in my present home!!! I hope the Xfinity techs read my comment so they learn to tell anyone who call with this problem that it is indeed "TEMPORARY" and will fix itself! That is all I needed to hear, to leave it alone and go back to my normal life! LEARN, PEOPLE AT XFINITY, PLEASE!

I ran into this situation with Outlook and Gmail and come to find out it had nothing to do with Xfinity and everything to do with my VPN. I turned it off and it went right through. I'm sure that's not the issue for everyone, but I can tell you, if you have a VPN, try that first.
