Disabling links in emails using web email client
I have a friend who has a need to restrict some access to an elderly parents access to the internet. long story short, this individual has found themselves the victims of ransomware and has the need to prevent such threats. I've rebuilt the PC and added software to restrict access, but unfortunately this software does not seem to block some of the more obscure links embedded in emails received.
I've been asked if there is a way to disable the hyperlinks in emails received when the xfinity web email client is used in order to limit some of these risks. Searching the web and this forum has not provided any solution to this quesiton.
Are there any settings that would disable any links in received emails? It looks like this is done when emails are in the "Spam" folder. I would think that if it can be done with emails in spam folder that it would be doable in the Inbox.
Thanks!

There are no settings in the webmail UI that would do what you are describing. And yes, if an email with a link in it goes to Spam, it will kill the link. I don't know of any desktop client that has that ability either. What your friend might consider is setting up the account in question using the "Safe List". Using that would restrict what emails could even get to the Inbox. They would only get emails from contacts that are on that safe list, and nothing else. I don't know if that would fit the situation, but it's worth a look. On the Inbox page click on the gear icon in the upper right corner, then on Settings>>>Advanced settings. There you will see the option to enable or disable the Safe list.
