Did Xfinity really send this email?

Today I received an email with the subject:

ACTION REQUIRED: update your comcast.net settings soon.

Is this a legitimate email or phishing?

Yes, that red logo is there with the word "verified email."

I'm still wary.

What  else  does the email say?  Does it ask for personal information of any kind?  If so I would still be suspicious.  Does it give any reason for the sudden request to update anything?

Here's the body of the email:

You'll need to update your Comcast.net email settings

We wanted to remind you that, from 9/24/2019–10/1/2019, we're making changes to improve security for Comcast.net email accounts.

As a result of these changes, you'll need to update your outgoing email server settings for the email address s*********** to avoid compromising your customer login credentials when using a third-party email app such as Outlook.

If you do not update your settings your customer login credentials may be vulnerable to certain security issues and you’ll no longer be able to send emails through a third-party app.

These updates will only take a few minutes. Click below for step-by-step instructions.

I would guess it's phishing.

When you open the email do you see this in the upper left of it?

Verified email.PNG

If that logo is missing then it's not from Comcast/Xfinity.

It shows a long, long email address that starts with "emails.xfinity.com/....."

When you hover your mouse over the "Click below" link does it point to comcast or xfinity?

If it has the logo then it's probably legitimate, contrary to what I posted up-thread.  If you use an email client, then this would affect you.  If you use only webmail, you're probably safe and don't need to do anything.

If you use an email client you can check your settings here.

I use the built-in email client on my iPhone and iPad so I guess I should check the settings.

I received something similar on the 18th.

It most certainly is a phishing email.

I classified it as spam on the Xfinity site.  When taking a further look at the email in the spam folder, the logo is gone and has been replaced with a term in German.  The from, email address, is also from Germany.

The subject line was: "We Receieved Your Last Payment - Please Review Your Billing Information"

And it went on to say that I must confirm my info within 24hrs or my account would be frozen.

Hope this helps!

I have the red logo in mine also.  But the font is slightly different.
