deleted emails return to inbox

for about a week my husband has been complaining that deleted emails keep showing up back in his inbox as unread emails.  I thought he was confused so I deleted his emails and emptied his trash and it appears that they are in the inbox again showing up as unread.  I think it might just be the emails for the Home Security that show when the system was armed and disarmed. I've searched on this forum and found only one other poster from two years ago that had this happen and there was no reply so I'm not sure if there was a solution unknown to the forum.

I would love to look into your email concern. Please send us a message.

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there.

   - As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.

   - An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

   Press Enter to send it.

Once I reset my husband's account the emails stopped showing up in his inbox after he deleted them.

@user_lkp846 How did you "reset" the account?

@user_lkp846 Do you mean Resetting the password? That I can do.

Well, that did not fix it. These emails keep showing up after deletion. No response from Xfinity Support yet.

Thanks. I reset my password. It took a few hours, but things finally settled down. I am no longer having this issue. I would like to understand what happened and why resetting the password fixed the issue. It was kind of creepy to have this steady stream of zombie emails reappear. This has never happened to me before.

This exact same thing happens to me daily. Most of the time 2-3 times. I have an iPhone 11 and my mail setting show to “delete from server when deleted from phone”

this is crazy!!
