Delayed Email

I've noticed that often times my email deliveries are delayed....why?

It is Sunday morning and I just received many emails that where timestamped being sent on Friday and they just arrived in my inbox Sunday morning.

I checked several times on Saturday as I was expecting a particular email.

Why are my emails being delayed?

You may be having the same problem that I am having.  I posted a question just before you titled "accessing email through mail clients"  In my case both Thunbderbird and Microsoft mail can not access my Comcast mail for hours at a time, but when I log in to Comcast, the messages are sitting there.  Then suddenly it starts working again.  I thought it was a Microsoft Mail problem so I installed Mozilla Thunderbird.  Same exact problem.  This has been going on for weeks off and on.  Hopefully someone answers one of us with a good solution.

What is going on with email?? Yesterday, ALL emails, both sent and received between Jan. 25 and Feb. 19, disappeared before my very eyes. Accessing from desktop. A folder I had set up in that timeframe is also gone. They are not in trash or "restore". Almost like someone reset to January 24, 2022.

@user_2cd737 This happened to my wife the other night. It's like the Imap server went down. I have not received any emails in the last 24hrs even the ones i have sent myself. I wonder if the email servers are under attack from an outside source????

I am having the same problem in Minnesota. I have 3 email accounts, and no one has been able to receive email for the last 18hrs.

@Aceq2jot I am also in Minnesota. I just logged in, and the missing emails are magically back! Last night I was unable to compose any email, and now all 4 attempts are sitting there, open.

Good morning @ZenDawgg,

Would you be able to by chance message me directly with the "view source" of one of the emails in question? This can be accessed by right clicking the email on our webmail. It will include headers including the server communication times and help me check to see where the delay is happening.

@user_2cd737
Checking our logs I can confirm a bulk deletion of emails and just prior to the deletion access via IMAP of a third party email client called "Easilydo". It appears the email client deleted the emails, please check its settings and configuration in regards to deletion of emails. You may want to review the email clients' trash folder for your missing emails and/or folder as well and attempt recovery via the third party email client.

Is there any update on the email servers being down?? I have sent myself 3 emails from different accounts with Xfinity/Comcast as well as using 3 other web-based email services. None have come through which means there is a big problem with the email servers.

@Aceq2jot Good afternoon,

Email servers are not down. Please disable your email safe sender setting and try again. The email safe sender allows emails from only the individuals listed in the setting/filter. Any emails from others not listed will be immediately dropped and not delivered.

@XfinityCSAEmail I've been experiencing the same intermittent problem for a couple of months now receiving emails.  When having these issues the symptom is the same on my iPhone - the mail arrives hours or days later or in some cases not at all.  I have a gmail account which has worked on the same mail reader and computer without any delays when I test at the same times the incoming delays are being experienced.  I could see it being my account or configuration if the emails stopped arriving altogether on both devices, but this an intermittent problem on both devices.  Additionally sometimes I have to try multiple times to send a message, which eventually gets through.

@Aceq2jot Hello and thank you for reaching out on our Xfinity Community Forums. I am so sorry to hear that you are experiencing these awful email server issues, with seemingly no end in sight. That can definitely be really frustrating! I would be more than happy to help in troubleshooting this issue further, no problem at all. It is the very least that we can do for a valued member of our Xfinity family dealing with this situation. To get started, please reply in a private message with your first and last name and service address by following the steps below.

To send a "Peer to peer" ("Private") message:
Click "Sign In" if necessary
• Click the "Peer to peer chat" icon
• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
• Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
• Press Enter to send it

I no longer work for Comcast.

Same Comcast issue. Some incoming emails are Lost in Space anywhere from 1.5 to 6+ hours before becoming visible in my inbox - Windows 11 and iOS. Any mail app. Time stamps confirm. Also emails might arrive in groups on occasion. Not a good situation for working environment.

I continue to have emails delayed, WHY????

I know I checked yesterday and last night.

This morning I just received emails from two days ago!  And many from Yesterday.

Why does this continue to happen?

I'm accessing through Google Chrome and I have no Internet issues.
