Comcast.net email in Apple Mail

I am unable to receive email in Apple Mail for my comcast.net email.  I have changed my password with Xfinity as well as in the settings in Apple Mail.  This has now happened twice, 6 months apart.  Previously I have been able to correct it by deleting the Comcast email and reinstalling it.  It is not working this time.

When I called Apple, I am being told that I likely need an App Specific password with Xfinity.  I do not know what that entails and I have not been able to locate anything on your website.

I was traveling when this happened and I have not be able to access my emails since June 20th.  Should I just cancel my Comcast email?

user_x0t13j. Thank you for providing those details, and I'm sorry to hear you've been dealing with this for so long, especially while traveling. To clarify, your Comcast email password is the same password used to sign in to your Xfinity account. There is not a separate IMAP password for third-party email applications. Since you've already changed your password and re-added the account without success, we'd like to take a closer look. Before we proceed, are you able to successfully sign in to your email through Xfinity Webmail? If so, that will help determine whether the issue is with the email account itself or specifically with Apple Mail.

Thank you!

I am currently logged into Xfinity Webmail; it is just easier to read and sort in Apple Mail.

Thanks for confirming, user_x0t13j. Is your device up to date with the latest OS? Is this happening on multiple devices or just one?

Yes, my OS is up to date and it is happening on multiple devices including a Mac desktop, iPhone and iPad.  Thank you for your quick responses.
