comcast email

I have several comcast email addresses, all coming into Gmail.  One comcast address, in particular, is not working...there may be others.

I have read that there have been some changes to settings. Also, that unused addresses are being removed, but I use this one a lot.

Right now this address is set to:

Treat as alias

SMPT server - smpt.comcast.net  Port: 587

Secured connection using TLS

Do I need to change something?

Thanks.

... SMPT server - smpt.comcast.net ...

It's probably a typo, but just in case, the server used for sending is SMTP server smtp.comcast.net

@BruceW

I do have it as SMTP...sorry about that.

What should the port number be?

Is TLS correct?

If I send an email from my Gmail address to the offending comcast address, I get this error message:

"Your message wasn't delivered to xxxxxx@comcast.net because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail."

If I send from the comcast address to Gmail, I get this error message:

"You're sending this from a different address or alias using the 'Send mail as' feature. The settings for your 'Send mail as' account are misconfigured or out of date. Check those settings and try resending."

On the xfinity website, signed in with my account holder name, if I try to send an email to the offending comcast email address, I get this error message:

"Message could not be sent to the following recipients: ["xxxxxx@comcast.net" <xxxxxx@comcast.net>] (550 - 550 5.2.0 <xxxxxx@comcast.net> - Account Closed, Please Remove"

One more bit of info...signed into my account on xfinity, it lists only the email address that uses my account holder name. None of the other comcast addresses I have had for many years are listed anywhere that I can find.

Can you help? Thanks.

Something more...

I have 2 xfinity accounts, one at my winter residence and one at my summer residence.

I have been on my summer account as of 4 days ago. I just checked the winter account...only one email address listed there as well- the one for the winter account holder.

"4cu66YF", are you "cranberrytoo"? If so, it's best to use only one Forum ID when posting here. Too confusing otherwise!

What should the port number be? Is TLS correct?

https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/email-client-programs-with-xfinity-email prefers SMTP port 587 with TLS (AKA SSL).

"Your message wasn't delivered to xxxxxx@comcast.net because the address couldn't be found, or is unable to receive mail."

I'm not familiar with that one, It appears to originate with Google Mail, so all I can to is direct you to https://support.google.com/mail/thread/86533375.

Likewise, for "You're sending this from a different address or alias using the 'Send mail as' feature. The settings for your 'Send mail as' account are misconfigured or out of date. Check those settings and try resending", see https://support.google.com/mail/thread/4846113.

For help with "Message could not be sent to the following recipients: ["xxxxxx@comcast.net" <xxxxxx@comcast.net>] (550 - 550 5.2.0 <xxxxxx@comcast.net> - Account Closed, Please Remove" I expect you need help from an employee with deep knowledge of Comcast/Xfinity's email systems.

Sorry! Good luck!

Yes, I think you are right...so I need to call xfinity and try to get a live person. Perhaps they shut off all my comcast emails except the ones for my 2 account holders. Not fair...the address I've been talking about has been in near-constant use. Also, my husband's comcast email address doesn't show up on either of our xfinity accounts and it is working just fine...it comes into Outlook.

Thanks so much for trying to help me!
