Test incognito/private browsing mode, if you can. Open an Incognito window in Chrome (Ctrl + Shift + N on Windows / Cmd + Shift + N on Mac) and attempt to sign in to connect.xfinity.com. This tests whether third-party extensions (like ad blockers, anti-virus web shields, or privacy tools) are blocking the webmail server connection.

You can also check webmail settings and rules. Check your Xfinity Webmail settings by clicking the gear icon in the top right. Verify if auto-forwarding is accidentally turned on or misconfigured. Check if any incoming email rules are silently routing messages to Spam, Trash, or another folder. Ensure test domains or contacts aren't inadvertently blocked.

Then, verify third-party client sync/third-party access settings. Even though you use Chrome, do you also have your email synced to a phone app (Apple Mail, Outlook, Samsung Mail, etc.)? If a third-party app is constantly polling the server with an invalid password or outdated IMAP/SMTP configuration, it can lock out or throttle webmail traffic. Check if "Allow access to third-party email programs" is toggled on/off in Xfinity Security Settings to see if turning it off temporarily restores webmail functionality.

You can try an alternate browser or mobile network! Log in via a different browser (Firefox, Edge, Safari) or on a mobile device disconnected from home Wi-Fi (using cellular data). Intermittent "cannot connect to server" errors can sometimes point to a local IP/network routing issue or DNS resolution failure with your home ISP gateway.

Because we are actively migrating users to Yahoo Mail, accounts in a pending or partially provisioned transition state can occasionally experience backend database locking (explaining why only a "random email" trickles through).
