Comcast email suddenly not working on my imac

I have an imac, an iphone, and an apple laptop. As of yesterday, I suddenly can't access my email on my imac, but can access it on my laptop and iphone. Has anyone had this issue and if so, what can i do to fix it?

How are you trying to access the email on the iMac? Are you using only the webmail interface and a browser? Or Mac Mail? Something else? Exactly what happens when you try to get to the Inbox page?

@Latoque. When I click on the email icon on the bottom of my imac, my email page comes up, but I get a error that says "connections to the server smtp.comcast.net on the defaults ports timed out. I have no idea what that means or why it suddenly started happening. I have not changed anything settings on my imac. My email works on my phone and laptop just not my desktop. I can access it through Outlook, but I really prefer to use the Mac Mail program. Do you have any ideas?

Double check the settings in Mac Mail. If they are correct, try deleting the account and then re-creating it again from scratch. Let Mail auto-configure the account for you.

As an aside-----I have an iMac. I used to use Mac Mail but have found it to be problematic. I use Thunderbird now.

@Latoque. If I delete my Comcast mail account from my iMac, will it delete my Comcast mail from all my devices at the same time? I had a feeling that's what I needed to do, just afraid to screw it up. Thanks for the help.
