Chrome telling me myxfinity.com and xfinity e-mail NOT SECURE
Just within the last couple of weeks when I open my chrome browser to my homepage (myxfinity.com) or open my xfinity email - chrome is showing the page is "NOT SECURE". I have been using chrome and xfinity for many years and this has never happened before. Is my personal information in danger? I can go into Chrome settings and "ALLOW INSECURE CONTENT" but I am not computer savvy enough to know if this is a good idea. I don't understand why all of a sudden these two sites would become "NOT SECURE" after years and years of no problem. I am 75 years old - so I apologize if this is a stupid question or if there is a simple explanation that most people know about? I appreciate any help anyone can offer. Thank you.

Although I received many helpful suggestions and lots of information - nothing worked to fix the problem. However, the problem has stopped occurring as of a few days ago. It stopped as mysteriously as it started. Not sure if it was an Xfinity glitch or a Chrome glitch or both. But I am happy that it resolved itself. Thanks to everyone on the forum - forum members have helped me numerous times and I appreciate it.

Have you tried a different browser? I just tried with FireFox by putting in just my.xfinity.com and it came back as https://my,xfinity.com.

If the time is off on your PC by a few hours, that will do it too. Update/Sync internet time.

Wait....years? Is this Chrome on Windows 7 ?
In looking at the certificate on my.xfinity, there was a change to it made on 6/2/2022. What is it now? TLS 1.3
What can't you do on windows 7? TLS 1.3 encryption. It was added to windows 10, but I don't think it is going to get back ported to windows 7 -- that's EOL/unsupported now.
You can test your browser with cloudflare here "Check my Browser": https://www.cloudflare.com/ssl/encrypted-sni/ But my guess is you'll get a failure for DNSSEC and TLS1.3.
If that is what is going on, I don't know if there is an alternate page, or if that's all they got (likely). 3rd party email client using TLS1.2 could be a workaround and still reasonably secure for windows 7 -- such as it is......again, if that is what the problem is. I don't have anything running windows 7 anymore or even a VM setup.

"sporadic and strange" can also be a communication problem / connection interrupted or timeout during the negotiation, or bloated browser cache. If you've never done it, it's probably way past time to clear the cache on your Chrome: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop
Wipes out stored cookies/cached web content. Doesn't wipe out stored passwords. If you have sites that are 'automatically logging in' (remember this browser checked), you may have to re-enter your passwords. It's quick, and may save you the trouble of trying to diagnose your internet connection.

It's the way most current web browsers are designed. Whenever you use any provider's webmail to open an email that references a non-secure (loaded with "http" instead of "https") image, script, or other item, the browser warns you. The same thing happens for other web pages as well. In webmail, this probably happens most often if you have the setting for "Allow pre-loading of externally linked images" (gear icon / Settings / Security / Mail) checked. If you don't have that option checked, you're probably getting the browser warning when you open an email that has insecure content and you click the "Show images" button.
Sadly, many of the emails Comcast sends have insecure image links and will trigger the browser's warning. Two examples are "http://log.dmtry.com/" and "http://xfinity.comcast.net/favicon.ico". To a browser both of these are "insecure" because they use "http" instead of "https".
A secure web page that loads insecure content is said to be using "mixed content", and may be subject to a "man-in-the-middle" attack. Comcast seems to think this is not a problem, but Internet security experts think otherwise. See https://www.google.com/search?q=mixed+content+pages+MITM.

I am also having trouble with the my.xfinity.com web site all of a sudden. I can access it securely but if I click on an article to read it & them click the back arrow I end up on the my.xfinity.com site but it's not secure. The same thing happens if I try to go to any other part of the xfinity site - like my account or the tv information, etc. I contacted xfinity several times over the last 3 or 4 days - it's been really frustrating because the stupid auto answer thing always wants to restart my modem even tho I know that's not the problem. I talk to a representative, explain the problem & often find I've been sent to the wrong department - was sent to billing twice today. Then when that person has listened to me & talked to a tech, I'm told they will transfer me to a tech, but I end up at the beginning again with the stupid auto bot that wants to restart my modem again. I'm ready to find a new service provider.

The exact same thing has been happening to me, and just within the past couple of weeks as well (and I am 75 too, coincidentally!). I never had that problem before. I tried calling Comcast/Xfinity, but could only get recordings, not a live person. So I went in person to an Xfinity store, and spoke to someone who said it's a Chrome encryption issue, and not to worry about it. However, I've seen postings from people who have had the issue with Xfinity emails and home page who are using other browsers, not just Chrome. I think it must be a recent Xfinity issue, not related to the browser.

I was responding to the original post at the top of this thread "Chrome telling me myxfinity.com and xfinity email NOT SECURE" because what the poster said exactly describes what has been happening to me. It was not an issue until quite recently.

Thanks for letting us know that the problem seems to have fixed itself. I'm going to close this to further replies; if the problem rears up again start a new thread and we will try tackling it again.
For any others who have posted in this thread about a similar issue, please start your own individual thread so that we might be able to help you.
