Changed E-mail username - Now receiving "Mail Server Denies Access" & "Invalid Sieve Credentials"

I changed my e-mail username yesterday. The e-mail was working previously. Once changed,

when I log in and click on my e-mail I get the error "Mail Server Denies Access".

If I try to send an e-mail I get the same error. I also see an error of "Invalid Sieve Credentials" when I click on the e-mail settings.

I cannot recieve any mail (I tried sending from my other e-mail and it was returned). I called in and they could not figure out what the issue was.

Has anyone experienced this?

Hi there!

Thanks for the response, It will not let me log in with my old username. It will not let me change the username back either (Although I want to keep the new one but I tried just in case).

I am also having this issue, but I have not changed my username or password at all. It actually started a couple months ago.

I tried calling 1-800-XFINITY. The agent said he would try "Refreshing" the account, which took about 5 minutes or so to complete, but didn't fix anything. Then he hung up on me.

Those are the error messages I was getting. To get things resolved I had to call Comcast and was able to get transferred to 2nd level support. They had to "rebuild" my account, but after that things were working again.

@mkeagar  Thanks for posting this. Had the same issue and asked to be referred to a 2nd level support rep and they "rebuilt" the account and now it works. :)

Just created a new user on my account.  The Auto one put in an underscore where I didn't want, so I changed the Username.  Now email just lists "server access denied" and "Invalid sieve credentials".  Can't log in with old username anymore.

@THarper2 I am having the same issue.  My husband added me as a "manager" user, I accepted the invitation, but the email won't work.  I get the same message - "Mail server access denied."  My issue has also been escalated to the next level of support.  However no one from that level has contacted me.

Has anyone else had this problem resolved?

I set up a Comcast.net email - it could emails but not receive.  I called customer support last night.  I explained issue in detail. A group of overly polite customer service reps held me on the line for 30 minutes before indicating my case needs to be escalated. A new tech called today, another 20 minutes.  He said he fixed issue.  When I checked, not fixed. So I changed my user id hoping to start again.  Now getting the 'Mail Service Denies Access' message. Comcast - you guys really need to get your tech support fixed!

I am having the same issue. I had a ridiculous initial email account name ( random numbers)@ Comcast changed it to what I needed it to be and have had server denies access errors. I am unable to make any changes and can't revert back because I didn't think to save the old user name. Please help

Thanks for providing us an update user_690ff. I've run into this issue myself in the past. I recommend trying to clear the cache and cookies on your devices for a quick resolution. If you still experience issues, we're here and eager to take a deeper look into your log-in troubles.

I just switched to Xfinity and created a new email address that I've never been able to access. I receive a similar error message, saying "Error Mail server denies access." in a pop-up whenever I try to log in to my email. I am having no trouble logging in, like there's no username/password issues. It just is a "server issue." I've tried for days to get technical help from customer service via phone or online and no luck. How can I get into my email? Important emails for my internet/cable account are going there and I can't access them now!

I am having a similar issue. I recently signed up for xfinity internet. Once activated, I changed my username from the default.

A few days later, I tried to access my comcast email. I am getting "Error Mail server denies access." Was anyone able to solve this?

I am having the same problem today 7/16/2021. Tried to add a new user name and got the message Error: mail server denies access.  All the old user names work fine. What gives?

Thanks for the response.  Unfortunately, Xfinity has no incentive to solve this problem.  My theory is that they have updated their e-mail server to permit access to users operating Windows 10 and said "too bad so sad" to the rest of the world using Windows 7, etc.  This is how monopolies operate...you can take it or leave it.
