Can't sign into email using Outlook

I use the new Outlook to access my comcast email. I have the app open on my laptop and had opened my email earlier today but all of a sudden it's asking me for my password. I put in my password but got an error. It said to give my email provider this error information. {"SessionId":"99b37149-d389-204c-b691-14fcdfde143e","Timestamp":1740863062146,"Error":"INTERACTIONREQUIRED"}

What change over are you talking about?  With Outlook?  Are you able to log into your account in webmail

@user_wwbnj8 Apparently there was a nationwide problem with Outlook yesterday.

Apparently it's still not fixed.

I can access my mailbox via Xfinity web interface, but something still is broken when trying to use New Outlook client.

Attempt to run "(New) Outlook" shows my Inbox for about half a second then switches to a window that says "You Need to Sign In".  Filling in the requested information -- user name, server names for IMAP (imap.comcast.net) and SMTP (smtp.comcast.net), port numbers (993 and 587), and security (SSL/TLS for both) -- results in a long wait (approx 90 seconds) then "Sign In Failed". Clicking "Try Again" gives the same error after a wait of less than one second.

I am open to suggestions.

Additional information:  Outlook can access my Gmail account.  It's just the comcast.net accounts that are inaccessible.

I can't access my gmail account, because it quickly goes to the "enter password" and won't let me get to the Gmail account.

Same problem here with showing inbox for a second and then showing a sign-in screen. Glad to find others having this problem but wasted a number of minutes trying to solve by reloading email.

I am having the same problem with Outlook (new).  Can't get my xfinity password to work. Tried changing my xfinity password without success.  Very frustrating.  Any suggestions/solutions would be appreciated.

user_7da725 Thanks for letting us know. It looks like there was a known issue a few days ago that should be fixed now.

I am having the same issue and it started yesterday 3-1-2025.

I have a feeling this may never get fixed. Is it a Comcast/Xfinity issue or is it a Microsoft New Outlook issue? My regular (non new) Outlook does work with comcast.net addresses.

Having the same issue!  Comcast or Microsoft issue?? Xfinity, please chime in!

Hello ripley165. Thanks for sharing your experience as well with our community on our Xfinity Forums. I'm sorry to read of the trouble we are having with connecting your Xfinity email comcast.net through the outlook client. I know that email can be the main source of communication for people and that it's vital to stay connected. I would love to help out and keep your communications going.

I read above there appears to have been an issue reported, but has since been resolved. Are you having any lingering issues with accessing your email through outlook?

Hi user_c15dfa, I can imagine what you've been going through, especially with how important emails are. I appreciate you already checking the Xfinity website to confirm your emails are visible there. Are you able to confirm your emails settings are properly enabled as well? This 'Walkthrough' can help guide you as well.

Tried again, still can't sign in to New Outlook for Windows to see my Comcast.net emails.  Doesn't like my valid/accurate password.  Can view the emails in my Firefox browser.  Is this an Xfinity problem or a Microsoft problem?????  Issue started yesterday, March 1.

Keep trying, every once in a while.  Three Comcast mail accounts came back, one at a time, over a period of 8 to 10 hours.  I didn't do anything except keep trying every once in a while.

Gotta wonder who did what?  My guess would be a permissions or certificate issue that somebody in the Comcast back room had to fix, one account at a time.  But Comcast hasn't said anything about cause or fix, and I doubt we will ever find out.

@user_neuk08 YAY I'm back in this morning.  I know what you mean about how we users will never find out which giant company was responsible for squandering our time while we tried to figure out how we might have messed up.  At lease if an EMP takes out everything we'll know it wasn't us LOL.  Funny not funny.
