Cant Add Secondary Email; keeps telling me phone or another email acct is associated w/primary

I have Outloof on my mac; I had a primary and secondary email. The origial secondary stopped sending mail from Outlook several weeks ago.I did all the tweaks and created a new password in xfinity as I kept getting authentication errors. I deleted the secondary in Outlook  and tried to set up a new one. I could not get Outlook to accept the setup. The error said there was an error with my settings. Everything was copied from my primary. I then removed the secondary in Xfinity and wanted to set it up again but at the dialog box where they aks for  one contact information to send the Invite to,  it refuses what I enter b/c the my phone number is already associated with another acct (my Primary) or the account I am trying to re establish (same email) i I am told it is already associated with another account.. Any assistance greatly appreciated...I'm going a little batty

When setting up a new user (email account) with Xfinity, set it up as a 'Viewer' and you won't be prompted to enter an email address to send a confiirmation to.  You can change the privilege later.

I removed 2nd account (again) and set up a new one, I have checked incoming and outgoing port numbers, restarted laptop,. The config that Outlook initially sets up automatically as IMAP  in the outgoing server - I changed them to POP and mail.comcast.net but still I recieve "

Unable to sign in. Check your credentials and try again." I'm going back into the ether to look for more articles. thank you

And you're POSITIVE that you're entering the SAME credentials used when creating the Xfinity User?  Have you verifiied them by logging into the MyXfinity website using those credentials?

From Outlook?  Yes.  Probably NOT from Xfinity.

Absolutely. I am mystified and frustrated: I have removed the secondary user 3 x since my last email. After creating it this time (3x) I checked it in Users>Edit and it shows an additional Gmail of mine there as well as the one I just created-I could not remove it and every Remove/Add I did it continues showing up.. I then went to add the new acct to my Xfinity Mail. Using both the automated set-up and manual it gave me the same error message as in Outlook: "check your credentials". So it is not even setting up in Xfinity even though it is shown in the Users pane.
