Cannot reset password

I cannot reset my password on my email account and no one can help on phone or through text!! Due to security they cannot reset my password I have to use the self reset. I asker so what happens when I cannot do this!!!??? They don't know. Cannot get into my email that I've had for over 20 years!!! This is unacceptable!!!
