Cannot receive email because my mailbox has reached capacity, but it won’t let me delete emails to free space

Cannot send or receive email due to mailbox being at capacity.  She tried to delete thousands of emails, but keep getting a pop up window saying I can’t delete because mailbox is full 

Start by deleting a few emails at a time, and then clearing your Trash.  You may have to clear your cache and cookies several times as well.
