Can more than one email account exist for the same email address?

Hello, is Comcast able to tell if more than one email account exists for the same email address. I identified a few people that appear to be using my email address. I believe Comcast somehow allowed them to creat the accounts. I don’t think they did it maliciously. The email address that's being used has been my personal email address for over 15 years. I keep getting emails from legitimate businesses that are addressed to names other than mine. Thanks for any information provided.

Do you mean someone is using your address to send emails?  If so, hover your mouse pointer over the From address in the header.  Do you see any other address?

But you can call Comcast security and ask them if it's possible.

Yes, someone is using my address to send emails?  When I use the mouse pointer and hover over the From address in the header I see my address. The person that sent the email never gets the responses, but I wonder how many that might be getting through using my address. Thanks for the quick response.

I have the same question - but in my case I am receiving legitimate emails using my address that are clearly intended for other people. How can there be multiple people using the same email? My id is (a very unimaginative) dmylastname@comcast.net, which I have been using for years. I receive emails for other people that are addressed to my email.

For example, there is a Denise same last name that is actively seeking employment and active in Democratic politics - I regularly get emails for her. There is a David who travels a lot for business, and I get his hotel and airline confirmations, and a Donald in Tennessee who is active in a church group and probably wonders why they never let him know about upcoming events.

I will sometimes respond to tell them they are not sending to the right person. It is surprising to me that most senders don't want to believe that I am not the person they are trying to contact. I subscribe to an identify theft service that alerts me if things like my email address are involved in a breach - most recently I got a notice in February 2021, but the breach was for Denise, but with my address.

I believe I can change my user id, but would hate to do that since I have been using the same id for so many years and so many businesses and persons have that as my address.
