adding attachment to email
What are the valid document types we can attach to an email. We tried PDF and various Microsoft Word document types without success. When trying to attach/insert we get invalid document type.

When I try to insert my PDF, it comes back with "Please select a valid image File to insert". When I try to attach it, it displays 'PDF' on a red background.
When I try to insert my Microsoft Word document, it comes back with “Please select a valid image File to insert". When I try to attach it, it displays 'DOCX' on a blue background.
I'm trying to email an Amazon invoice. Maybe it's something hidden in the invoice's format. I got around it by printing it, scanning it and then attaching and email it.

Both of those file types are permitted (see https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/limitations-on-sending-email).
What OS and app or program are you using? What is the exact error message? If the message contains an email address, remove the userID portion but leave the rest. For example, if the message contained the email address "bobsmith@example.net", edit that so it reads "********@example.net" before posting.

It sounds like you are trying to use an "Insert Image" button to insert other types of files. For non-image files look for "Attach File" or some similar name. In Comcast's webmail, you'd click the "Attach Files" link below the Subject entry box and above the HTML toolbar.

When I try to attach my PDF using 'Attach Files' below the Subject line, it displays 'PDF' on a red background. When I try to send it, it comes back stating it's an empty file.
When I try to attach my Word Document using 'Attach Files' below the Subject line, it displays 'DOCX' on a blue background. When I try to send it, it comes back stating it's an empty file.
Thank You

If you are using Comcast's webmail and attaching the files without entering anything in the message body, when that message is received in webmail it will display "This mail has no content". But if you click the "n attachment(s)" link you should find your attached file(s) there. Clunky, I know, but that's how they set it up.
To avoid the "This mail has no content" message, type something, anything, in the message body (ex: "See attachment").

I am curious-------have you tried using a different browser? I just sent both .docx and pdf files in an email with nothing in the body of the message to accounts I have at Outlook.com, Yahoo, Gmail and Vivaldi.net. In all cases the message sent did not generate any error message either in Comcast, or at any of the recipient addresses. They all went through OK. I am using Vivaldi for my browser. Windows 10 pc.

I'm seeing the same red and blue backgrounds for those file types. Apparently it's normal. I don't know what they mean, because as best I can tell neither Comcast nor Open-Xchange (the company that supplied the "Appsuite" webmail) bothered to document this.

Different file types get different colors. To see only button icons, click on the elipse to the right under the "Options" link. It can be toggled back and forth. Image files will show a preview thumbnail---------------------
