Unlocking phone

I need to have my phone unlocked in order to switch to a different carrier (which I’m doing because Xfinity’s rates are so ridiculously expensive). I have made 5 requests now to Xfinity between the online chat and calling on the phone. This has been over the span of a week. They told us every time that the phone was now unlocked, only to look in my phone and still see it locked. Their solution was to restart the phone or give it more time to update. Only on the fifth call did someone realize that the issue is with Apple and they need to submit a different request. And now, because of this delay, it could take 5 more days before it is unlocked. I am so unhappy with the support from xfinity, and very happy that we will be switching carriers (T mobile has been very easy to work with so far). 

Update: Apple can’t unlock an iPhone, only the carrier can. So basically Xfinity is completely useless.
