Two Xfinity esim lines on one iPhone?

I have an iPhone 16 that is activated with one line from Xfinity (esim).   I wanted to move another Xfinity esim line from an iPhone 14 over to the iPhone 16 so that I can have both Xfinity lines the iPhone 16.  I am getting conflicting information on whether this is possible.  Some are saying Xfinity does not allow 2 Xfinity esims to exist on one iPhone.  If you try to move the 2nd esim over, the Xfinity app will say "phone already activated, cannot transfer esim".  Can anyone advise on this?

@blueman-2 Xfinty Mobile only supports one mobile service per device, regardless of whether you have a dual SIM device. Dual SIM functionality can support adding a second line from another domestic carrier or a local data plan if you’re traveling outside of the country. Your phone must be unlocked to use its dual SIM functionality with another carrier.

Very odd.  I know of no other carrier who limits locked phones to only 1 line for that carrier.  Wonder why they do that?  So to have separate numbers for business and personal on an iPhone 16, I must go with an outside carrier.  Weird to make a customer buy from another carrier like that. Thanks for the reply!

BTW, I have have 2 line of Xfinity running on a Pixel 8.  One line is the esim, and other on physical sim.  No issues with that at all.  Just running 2 esims from Xfinity appears to be prohibited.

I hate the way eSims allow carriers to control what customers do.  I miss the old pSim days.  Sad that Apple went eSim only in the US.

@blueman-2 I agree that it is odd. Seems that if someone is willing to pay them extra money for another line, they would be happy to take it! [Edited: "Solicitation"]

Interesting.  Ask the chat bot if 2 esims from xfinity on a phone is allowed, and it says yes!  Not sure I can trust that though. Anyone from xfinity care to help on this?

Great question @blueman-2! Yes, you can have 2 esims on a compatible XFINITY device. Some compatible devices include iPhone 13 models and later. For additional information, please see the following link https://www.xfinity.com/learn/mobile/esim under the Frequently Asked Questions section.

Thanks, @XfinityAlyssaA !  Just to confirm, here is what I wish to do:

1. I have an existing iPhone13 on my Xfinity plan with my personal number line (esim).

2. I wish to purchase a new iPhone16Pro from Xfinity, and port in my business number on that phone.  I will use the device payment plan, so it will be carrier locked to Xfinity, ofcourse.

3. After my new phone arrives and I have it connected to my ported business number, I wish to transfer the esim from my iPhone13 to the iPhone16Pro.

I have read old posts from 1-2 years ago that you cannot add a 2nd Xfinity esim to an Xfinity phone.  It will give a system error that the phone is already activated and cannot add the esim.  I wanted to make sure I can do what I want to avoid having to return the phone should I not be able to have 2 esims with 2 phone numbers on the new iPhone16Pro.  I know only 1 number can be "active" at a time, but that is OK because the personal esim number will only be used on weekends.  During the week, my personal esim will be "inactive".

@blueman-2 Check this thread with an accepted solution from an Xfinity employee. They claim to only support one line of service per device, at this time. Unless something has changed in a month. https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/network/add-an-additional-esim-to-my-new-iphone16-pro-max/670bff999e0e6d6ef2b6022f

I suspect that this issue/policy is different if the phone is locked and on a payment/ bill credit plan, versus unlocked device. And thus all the confusion.

However, upon googling "does xfinity mobile allow two lines of service on the same phone" This is the info I received, which contradicts their other response on this. Seems they need to get their stories straight, and update their FAQ's or wherever else this information is coming from.

Yes, Xfinity Mobile allows you to have two lines of service on the same phone if it is a dual SIM device, meaning you can use one physical SIM card and one eSIM to have two separate phone numbers active on the same phone; however, both lines must be under the Xfinity Mobile service, as they do not currently support having two different carriers on a single device.
Key points about using two lines on Xfinity Mobile:
  • Dual SIM phone required: Your phone needs to have dual SIM capability to utilize two lines simultaneously.
  • Both lines must be Xfinity: You cannot have a different carrier on the second SIM.
  • eSIM option: You can use a physical SIM card for one line and an eSIM for the other.

@DreamSayerZ You are absolutely correct.  I just received confirmation from Xfinity that only 1 esim from Xfinity per phone.  2 Xfinity esims on a single phone are not allowed.  It took a while to get the final answer for me, but you were correct all along!  I was just hoping that maybe this was a technical issue that might have been resolved, but it appears to be a policy issue.

@blueman-2 Glad you were able to get this resolved before jumping in and buying a new phone. And finding out otherwise after the fact!
