Transfer mobile number from someone elses account to mine

I have recentely gone through a divorce and my mobile number is still on my x-husband's account,  (XXX)XXX-XXXX. I want to transfer my mobile number to my personal account. My x-husband has already called and given permission to do so.

No, I found that my cell had no service this morning so someone closed the account, maybe one of his family members.  I've already gone into Xfinity and they said there is nothing I can do.  The person who closed the account, family member, has to re-establish and release my number.  I already tried this with my husband and customer service was of no use when I called to let them know he released it.  I would think a note would be on his account.  Anyway, I am really upset and disappointed in Xfinity.  If I can't get my number in the next couple of weeks, I will cancel my internet service and move on unfortunately.  Thank you for listening!

Thank you for sharing what happened with the account, @user_pourd1. The choice would have been to either close the account or transfer it into someone's name when they reached out about this. Unfortunately, once the account is closed, recovering a mobile number is typically not possible unless very specific conditions are met. That may be why you were told the account would need to be reinstated. We can check with the Xfinity Mobile Executive team to find out if this would be possible. 

 

Please send us a direct message with your full name and complete service address to “Xfinity Support”. To do so, click on the direct messaging icon located at the top right of this forums page.

Here's the detailed steps to direct message us:
• Click "Sign In" if necessary
• Click the "Direct Message” icon (upper right corner of this page)
• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
• Type "Xfinity Support" in the to line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list
• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
• Press Enter to send your message
