Scam

I contacted Xfinity chat to try to get my phone unlocked and the agent asked for my IMEI number. I gave it to them not knowing what it actually was until I looked it up because something felt off. Why would Xfinity be on board with asking for information as sensitive as an IMEI number? Can someone please help me with this issue so I can protect myself?

@user_ybgppn Xfinity Mobile asking you to confirm your IMEI number to unlock your phone is not a scam. I'm sure they also asked for your billing address. They are just confirming certain information to make sure it's you the customer.

Thank you for responding. I just get sketched out. Identity theft is terrifying. My ignorance is showing.
