Samsung S20 FE 5G Wifi Calling not enabled

I recently switched to Xfinity Mobile.  I started getting delayed or failed text messages when Wifi is turned on and off.  This worked fine for my previous carrier.  My Samsung S20 FE 5G does not have a Wifi Calling option under Settings > Connections.   I've tried texting Xfinity Assistant, but they are unable to help.

I went to Xfinity Mobile Support:

It has the following note for enabling Wifi Calling for call and messages:  'Note: with XFINITY Mobile this service is currently not available.'

I've checked other Samsung phones like S24 under Xfinity's Device Support and it has the same note.  It appears if I upgrade it another Samsung phone in the future this will still be a problem.

I've seen other posts in this forum concerning this problem that has been around for over a year.  When or how can this be resolved?

@user_7gx4sy Are you at home and connected to your home WiFi network when you try to enable WiFi calling?

Yes I’m on my home WiFi .  There isn’t a WiFi calling option shown in Settings > Connections…only a WiFi option

@user_7gx4sy Did you bring your device from another carrier? From a what I have found, some folks were having trouble. Otherwise, the phone supports WiFi calling. You should reach out to Xfinity Mobile support for further assistance.

Thanks for your response.  Yes I did bring my phone from T-Mobile.  My son also has this problem with the same Samsung model phone.  My daughter's Apple phone doesn't have this issue where texting a message fails or takes a long time to send.

Hey there, @user_7gx4sy! Thank you so much for taking the time to reach out to us here on the Xfinity Forums! Xfinity Mobile (XM) supports WiFi calling on BYOD Samsung devices. WiFi calling is available on all Xfinity Mobile devices except for Samsung Galaxy S7/S7 edge. To use WiFi calling on Samsung devices, it is necessary to have the latest software and carrier settings installed. Is the device fully updated? Thank you so much @DreamSayerZ for sharing those details for our Xfinity Mobile. Did you reach out to Samsung also for further troubleshooting?

Thanks for your response.

I checked my version under Software Update option and it says that the phone is update to date with the last update on October 25.  In my original thread there is a link from your website with a Note saying that Xfinity does not support Wifi Calling.  I've checked Samsung Support and it has a similar if not the same message.

I've done searches on your website with similar queries concerning 'Samsung Wifi Calling', but no resolution.  Here's another thread on your Support website:

Thank you so much for clarifying that for us, @user_7gx4sy! Have you attempted to reset the network settings on your device along with your son's? Are you messaging another Samsung device or Apple device when the messages fail?

As far as the Wifi calling, is the device a Samsung S20 FE 5G? We are showing that the device is capable for the feature to be enabled on our end.

My phone is a Samsung s20 fe 5g...my son has the same phone.

I'm not sure what you mean by resetting the network settings on the phone.  I have tried to restart the phone multiple times after turning on wifi option, but still does not show a WiFi Calling option under Connections.

When experiencing a text failure, I'm usually in a group text with my son's Samsung s20 fe 5g and my daughter's Apple iPhone.

Thanks

I appreciate you being so diligent with us, and working together to troubleshoot the devices @user_7gx4sy! You would want to follow the steps here to reset the network settings on both the devices: go to Settings > General management > Reset > Reset network settings and then select Reset settings to confirm.

Please let us know if that helps the Wifi calling feature to become available. As far as the failed messages, is it happening at all times? And just to clarify, that is within the home connected to Wifi?

I've reset the network settings using the path that you provided.  Then turned on Wifi and since I wasn't at home Wifi linked to Xfinity Mobile.  When I got home, I linked to my Wifi.  For both Wifi networks, the Wifi Calling option did not show up in Connections even after restarting the phone.

The failed messages don't happen all the time.  I may be texting in a group and one of my texts get stuck and sent out of order.  My son would be at his home and I'm at mine when this happens.

After the network reset and with wifi on, I sent ten texts to my son without a failure.  I'll leave wifi on to see if it is still a problem.
