Phone unlock
I followed all of the instructions. My phone is paid off and my account is in good standing. Now, when I tried to transfer to a new carrier because I no longer live in the Xfinity coverage area, Xfinity basically bricked my phone by porting the number when the phone was actually still locked. This is after them telling me over and over that the phone was unlocked. This is after it explicitly states on their website that phones are unlocked 48 hours after being paid in full. Now, I have agents telling me the phone is showing unlocked on their end despite the fact my phone has an error message that states the phone cannot be activated with another carrier due to the network lock and that I need to contact Xfinity. I have been told this will be resolved in 24 hours, 48 hours and one agent stated by 1/6. This is unacceptable.
I have filed a complaint with the FCC. Companies should not be allowed to retain network locks on phones that are paid in full. Period. Waiting a week to find out whether or not my expensive phone is a shiny wifi enabled brick is not acceptable. I shouldn't be forced to buy a burner phone and go through another port when this is resolved because Xfinity cannot figure out what is obviously a glaring and ongoing issue with their process.

Good evening @user_ma9b71, and thank you for reaching out on our Community Forums with your device issues. I see that you stated you are receiving an error message that states your phone cannot be activated with another carrier due to a network lock even though you unlocked your device, is that correct? Our team is happy to help further. May I ask what type of device it is?

Experiencing the same issue and no matter who I talk to no one is able to unlock my phone. Each person or bot will tell you to wait or call/text them again to restate your complaint over and over again. This is ridiculous when you don’t have cell service, because they won’t unlock your phone! As clients, we need to band together to file a class action law suit and make Xfinity pay us back for their neglect and widespread suffering they’ve caused all of us.
