Mobile department fraud

I was trying to add my significant other to my mobile account and I had to talk to support to transfer her number over. During this process, I was instructed to click on a link and submit the order. The order included 3 iphone BYOD pay by the gig devices..... never was this discussed and he told me it was to protect future promos? both my phone, s26 ultra, and my SO phone, z flip7, are not iphones so i tried to tell him to please trasfer me to a different person and provde his eployee ID/reference number and they did not and instantly transferred.

How can this be common practice? I worked in moobile sales for a good chunk of my life, i understand the
