Live Chat SCAM?
LIVE CHAT CONCERN... I FELT LIKE I WAS SET UP TO BE SCAMMED!!!!!
Last night I attempted to purchase an Apple Ultra 3 Watch in Ocean Blue on your website. Should have been a $300 discount but it wasn't working out that way. So I used the LIVE CHAT for help. The person assisting me asked for my name and address for verification, which is understandable. Then assisted me to find this discount, but appeared they were trying to set up a sale which isn't what I was trying to do at the moment. I wanted the discount to show up in my cart.
But here's why I'm really contacting you....I was texted a link to click on to carry me to what I thought was a page to purchase the watch. Now, for verification it asked me for my SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER and DATE OF BIRTH.....why? Why not just my log in information? I didn't like this! I don't know who this person was assisting me, but just from how they put together a sentence I could tell they weren't American. And I'm very familiar with all of the scammers that work out of India and other countries. So I was oh high alert when I was asked for my SS# and DOB.
Now pay close attention to what I did .... I figured if I entered the wrong SS# and DOB that I would not be granted access to the next page. And if that happened, this was probably legit. But if it accepted my false information, then something is not right!!! So I purposely put in the wrong information and it was accepted, and I was forwarded to the next page. But this next page was not what I thought it was gonna be. It was just my billing page. At this point, I ended this conversation with this person because I did not trust what was going on.
IS IT STANDARD TO ASK FOR THE SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER AND DATE OF BIRTH?
I would like to be responded to with this matter to let me know if this was legit or not.
