is it customary now for a new iPhone to be delivered without a charging block? This cord is different than my old iPhone cord. Therefore, I have no way to charge my phone. Very frustrating.

The iPhone purchases don't come with a charging block, but you can choose one for purchase through your Xfinity Mobile account. You will find the items that come with your purchase in, "in the box".
