how do i know if my phone is unlocked BEFORE switching carrier
I am joining a plan of my partner's. I paid off the device officially today. I know that "supposedly" my phone will be unlocked in 48 hours, and that the best way to test if it's unlocked is to try a new carrier SIM card. However, I have read horror stories where the person transferred their service after the 48 hours when they tried the new SIM, it turned out the phone wasn't unlocked, but since the service was already transferred, Xfinity could no longer unlock it. Can Xfinity not confirm BEFORE I transfer the number to get the new SIM that the phone is indeed unlocked? It is an iPhone 14 Pro Max. Thank you!

@user_db84db Go to Settings, General, About. Scroll down and look at the Carrier Lock section. If unlocked, it will say No SIM restrictions.

I'm one of those who transferred my service and then learned that my phone wasn't unlocked. And that was AFTER Xfinity support had guaranteed me that my phone was fully unlocked. It was a complete nightmare trying to resolve the issue with Xfinity support over the phone, and I spent countless frustrating hours on the phone with them. I didn't have a phone for two days! The only way to get around was to transfer back to Xfinity, which meant I had to pay the activation fee. This happened about a week ago, and I'm still trying to figure out how to check if my phone is unlocked. Xfinity support is completely helpless. The most frustrating part is that this seems to happen over and over again, and Xfinity could care less So if anyone can tell me how to check if a Google Pixel 8 is unlocked. I'd really appreciate it.
