Bait-and-Switch While Shopping for Phones
After looking at the XF website, I decided it was time to upgrade my S22 to an S25. On the website, it said that I could get one for $8.75/mo, if I traded in my S22. (I had chosen 256GB and Upgrade Existing Device.) This sounded good to me, so I proceeded to the next page, selected the device I wanted to upgrade, and the amount changed to $27.75/mo.
I went to Support and proceeded to Chat with a very nice CS rep. Eventually, they told me that I had to go to an XF store to get that rate. They assured me that if I went there, I would get it.
Okay, I can do that. I went to the store, and after waiting for about an hour, was called to talk to someone. I explained what I wanted, showed them the price on the app. They told me that it was only available in certain circumstances, circumstances that didn’t include me. They said that I had to upgrade to Premium Unlimited at an extra $5/mo to get that rate. When I expressed disappointment at the bait-and-switch, they told me that I should read the website more carefully.
This requirement was not stated on the website, and the CS Chat person had told me that I could get the original rate if I went to the store.
I am a Diamond member with over 30 years on Comcast. I have bought SO MANY phones from them. I don’t need Premium Unlimited. I would like to know how I’m supposed to shop for phones online if I can’t trust the prices that I see when I’m comparing them.
