Xfinity camera mistakes squirrel for a person

My Xfinity camera sends me a "person detected" notification when a squirrel runs past.   Is it possible to adjust the detection setting?   I'm getting a lot of false notifications because of this error.  I've tried calling technical support but they don't know how to fix it.  This seems to be a software issue. My Arlo doorbell has no problem distinguishing between animals and people.

Welcome to our community forum, @user_debcaa! You've come to the perfect place to get your questions answered. I love being notified when my camera senses motion but it can be annoying when you get too many notifications. Is it set to "people only" or "all events"? You can check out more details here

@XfinityEmilyB Thanks for your reply.   Yes, it is set to "people only".   This camera has sent me notifications for several squirrels and a moth.  All were labeled as "person".   It did not recognize the Fedex delivery guy as a person, it was registered as "motion" only even though the man walked to and from my house in front of the camera.   Is there any way to adjust the camera sensitivity?

@XfinityEmilyB Thanks for your help.  One of your techs came to my house yesterday.   He moved the camera in back and adjusted the camera in front.   The camera in back is better.  It recognizes me about half the time (before it did not recognize me at all unless I was right under it).  The camera in front is still mistaking squirrels for people.  This is a software issue that should be easy for your company to fix. It does recognize deer as animals but for some reason a squirrel running across the driveway registers as a person.

I'm not sure what to mark because the issue is not fixed.  Your reply was very helpful but I still have notifications every time a squirrel runs by.   I guess it's just a defect in this system and that may be as good as it gets.

Thanks for letting us know @user_debcaa! I am glad that the technician was able to get it taken care of for you! I live outside of the Xfinity service area and I also have cats set off my alarm system and identifying them as people. Go figure.

Please let us know if you need anything at all, we are here to help! Take care. 😊
